What's Your Favorite Beer?
« on: February 23, 2016, 09:33:13 AM »
I don't always drink beer, but when I do. . .

I'll pretty much drink anything that's ice cold and will always look for something that's on tap, even if I didn't really care for it when bottled.  I've found that some IPAs are too bitter, but I do enjoy a number of IPAs.  Lately, I've found myself with Belgian and Italian beers.

The past many years, I have been drinking Miller Lite when going out with friends.  A large part of that is being good friends with a Miller distributor.  Free beer is always good beer.   ;D

I have a number of close friends that like trying beers from smaller or less mainstream companies.  One that I tried recently is the Lagunitas Hairy Eyeball.  That was pretty good.  Also some stuff like limited edition Goose Island and St. Bernardus.  Some of them can be quite pricey though, like $10+ for about a liter sized bottle.

Anyways, what're your favorite beers?

Choosing a favorite beer is no small thing.  I like lots of different styles of beer, and within each style, I like lots of different brands.  And my tastes are constantly evolving.

That being said, the last several times I've bought beer, I've bought Kona Brewing Company's Pipeline Porter.
The difference between theory and reality is that, in theory, there is no difference between theory and reality.

I've tried the Pirate Ale.  If it's the one I'm thinking about, it was pretty pricey.

One of my best friends' preferred beer is Budweiser (bud heavy).

Choosing a favorite beer is no small thing.  I like lots of different styles of beer, and within each style, I like lots of different brands.  And my tastes are constantly evolving.

I'm kind of the same way.  Recently it's been Belgians.  It could be ambers next week, etc.  That's why places like Yard House with a variety of beer on tap is always fun.  Speaking of which, I have a GC for there.   ;D

I haven't tried Kona's Pipeline.  I'll buy their Big Wave often, but haven't lately.  I'll have to see if I can find the Pipeline.  I didn't care for their Castaway IPA first time I tried it.  Liked it better the second time, but not one that I would look to buy in the future.

I'll let you start the favorite whiskey thread.   ;)

Yeah.  If one wanted beer growing up, it wasn't difficult to get.  If you were a guy and played HS sports, you had plenty of pressure opportunity to try beer.  I recall my first taste of beer was Kirin Ultra Dry and thinking how the hell to the old guys drink this stuff?!   ;D

Any love for the stouts?  For a bit I was into beers you could chew.  LOL  Back when black and tans were all the rage.  But seriously was never a big beer drinker thus why am gravitating to the lighter stuff.

Yardhouse is a fun place!  Haven't been in years though.  How come we don't have roving G2Gs at da kine places lidat.  Would be fun :)

I used to stay away from stouts.  I would have Guiness, but only as black and tans and black and something (forget what other beer combination).  My rule of thumb back then was I'd enjoy it if I could see through it.  Well, with the exception of Hefeweisens.

Nowadays, I've come to enjoy many stouts.  A recent one is the Samuel Smith Oatmeal stout.  Got it as a gift pack from a buddy for Christmas and it was actually pretty good.

The same gift box also had a chocolate stout.  I was really surprised, but I liked this one too.   :P

Mickeys!  Haha

A couple friends were talking last night and Old English (8-ball) came up.  That stupid game of "8 Ball scissor hands" where they duct taped Old E 40s to their hands.   :-X

Love that stuff, but I only buy it for dessert after finishing off pizza at the Kona Brew Pub here in Kona.  Outstanding after dinner beer, for me a bit too heavy to have with food.

They have a Black Sand Porter that is really good too.  Had them in a bottle, not nearly as good as on tap.
