Neighbor Situation part 2!
« on: March 20, 2016, 03:59:05 PM »
Hey folks,

So I have these neighbors who let their dogs run free without a leash. My town makes it a Class 3 misdemeanor for having a leash greater than 6 feet or no leash at all. Contacted police, they referred me to animal control. Animal control said it was a violation and they would send them a letter and to let them know if it happens again.
I also notified my apartment complex who said they would give them a 10 day notice (If you read neighbor situation part 1 these folks behave like animals).

They have about 5 dogs, 3 are large breeds. I noticed them running around today. What should I do?

I could call animal control, they will make an arrest and I would have to testify in court, easy day as I have video evidence. I could also tell the complex as this is a violation of that 10 day eviction notice.
I personally feel the need to address the situation as I have a 7month old who is about to walk, last think I need is their dogs attacking my kid... The dogs ran up to my wife the other day, not aggressive but you never know...
but I also am concerned, as they do act like animals, that my vehicles could be targeted... My parking stall is not visible from where my unit is, I do have a motion sensor in my parking spot that does let me know of activity, as well as, paging alarm systems in both vehicles.
I appreciate the input!

Why don't you just talk to them?

I just bought my own place, and what I love the most is I know all my neighbors on a first name basis. It helps build community.

First off, hilarious comments. Lol.
I had a neighbor that lives above them address another issue, the neighbors made more noise after he asked them to knock it off. When j say animals, they walk around barefoot(outside) with animal feces in some parts of the sidewalks, very loud and rude folks. So I don't think talking to them is an option.

I doubt the police or animal control would arrest, I think they would cite if possible. You are going to have to be the one to initiate the process because the police are not going to regularly patrol to see if this owner is in compliance. Going to the association might be better since it is just a fine that can be appealed at the meeting as opposed to an actual criminal thing going on their record.

I would definitely carry pepper spray. One of them comes at all close to you, spray it, easily justified.
