Any supporters can sign the petition, not just regulars that go to the range.  We're trying to get to at least 2,000.  More the better.  10,000 would be great.

Family members, friends, co-workers, acquaintances, classmates,  roommates, other organizations (sierra club, boy scouts, etc)...  If you're sitting around doing nothing, talk to the guy next to you and have them sign it on a smartphone.

On the petition page, click the "Post to Facebook" or other links buttons and spread the word.

Not sure if there's a minimum age for petitions.  Anyone know?

I'm meeting with the Las Vegas Clark County Shooting complex manager and 2a organizations tomorrow about lobbying and guidance on getting organized to get Koko Head improved.  Please send me questions to ask them.

a really good buddy of mines is attending the current dlnr hunting class and he mentioned to me in a conversation the instructors mentioned the Pittman Robertson Act which tax collected from the guns and ammo we buy goes into the PTA trust fund and if i got this correct a portion of that fund goes toward hunter education, including construction or maintenance of target ranges.  being a newbie, just asking and mentioning, totally agree KHSC really needs an upgrade, why not use federal funds, makes more sense for federal dollars to improve this worthwhile facility much less a useless rail.

wouldnt know where to start but just thought i throw this out there hoping someone may have a connection

Aloha Everyone!

Using that fund is a possibility.  It has to be matched with at least 25% state or city funds which is one issue, plus the additional maintenance costs that will be required if we improve the range.  The other issue is the state is using the fund for a few projects now, so will have to wait for some of those to close first.  Another possibility is construction of a range on Kauai or the BI may drain the fund for Koko Head improvements.  And the fund probably isn't enough to fund all of the improvements we want.

But it's currently the best source of potential funding.

I met with the Steve, the Clark County Shooting Complex Program Administrator, and Don, President of the Nevada Firearms Coalition (their equivalent of the HRA).  I learned about what it took to get the CCSC opened in the 10 years of lobbying and planning and guidance on what we can do to get KHSC improved.  Pretty much everything I stated earlier was confirmed.  We have poor community relations, a fragmented 2a community, and a resistance to change attitude.  And that our 2a community is the source of most of the problems.  These things have to be fixed before we can get anything done whether it's improving KHSC, getting CCW approved, or getting another range built.

More to follow later.

I confess that I am a newbie to this sport and I ask for your understanding and apologize if I offend anyone!  However, reading the posts about khsc and seeing the real need to modernize the complex as well as the opportunities I wrote an email to Councilman Ozawa as a user and constituent in his district.  While his response was the cordial with the usual politician reply.  I believe if enough people bombard his email or phone line we may get some attn for khsc.

I am willing to share the email string if you want - just pm me your email address and I'll copy you in.

Not being naive but usually the squeaky wheel does get the grease in our case lube.

Put in 2 places to increase exposure.

Main thing is sign the petition.

This thread seems to be more active discussion wise.

Quoted for truth.  I had a long reply typed out, but I will just say that the Hawaii 2a community has traditionally been a huge part of this problem.  I know there are those truly making efforts, but if the community as a whole remains status quo, don't expect the attitude in Hawaii to change and this goes from the public to the politicians.

I voted as the petition is 100% spot on.
