USPS Sucks!

I've relied on USPS for many years without mishap until this year.  I've already had a couple of shipping snafus this year which resulted in substantial delays in my receipt of goods purchased and am now looking at another one.  I ordered a receiver vice block from someone in California and USPS decides to send the darned thing to Florida!

Is it USPS's fault or the seller/shippers fault? Is the FL ZIP code similar to yours?

While I have had problems with USPS, no where near the same problems as I have had with UPS and FEDEX.  I'll take USPS over any other.

I trust the USPS more than FEDEX and UPS. They may be a little slower, but they seem to be more reliable than the other two.

I've had the opposite experience. Perhaps it's because I use USPS probably 3-4 times as much so there are less perceived screw-ups.  The only bad thing I've experienced is a package that got wet from leaving it outside during the loading process.

USPS is generally my preferred shipping method when ordering online and sending packages to addresses on the mainland (business and personal).  Their pricing seems more consistent and reasonable to Hawaii and have been pretty dependable in my experience.

I've noticed recently that packages shipped via UPS and FedEx also include transport via USPS, so it seems like they are combining services.  The tracking info was via UPS or FedEx, but the shipping label/markings included USPS service.

I've had UPS and FedEx packages that originated in CA get routed to places east of CA, like TN and TX.  I assumed that that was part of their shipping hub networks and that places like TN and TX were their main hubs.  It was stupid really to see the package go from CA, to NV, to TX, then back to CA and then to HI.  A friend who used to work at UPS explain that's part of shipping logistics.  I guess. . .  ::)

Well, USPS does suck sometimes.

To be fair, I've had numerous packages shipped via USPS and they've all arrived on time, some even early, and in good condition.  However. . .

Order shipped Monday, 18 July from Sacramento, CA with a delivery date of 21 July.  Well, the package somehow gets routed to Baton Rouge, LA, where it sat for a day before apparently making it's way back across the country to Hawaii.  Looks like it will be delivered sometime tomorrow. . .

Agree with this. I've had problems with DHL too. The problems are usually on the local end, i.e. drivers other than USPS won't actually bother to find my house and I end up having to call and yell at them after (pretend) failed deliveries. UPS has been better than Fedex or DHL, when I have the option of it.

USPS is also less likely to deliver packages if it's not my usual mailman, though. And my USPS packages are really banged up in general. I've only filed shipping damage claims a couple times in my life but they deserve to have way more filed against them by me. The best thing is that they've rarely, or never, lost a package outright. I've even had one arrive with a badly mistaken address written on it. I had a small, untracked package lost recently but it was mailed from Puerto Rico from a seller who loses 5% of everything they ship out (seller ate the cost).
