I predict the governor will veto the bill. I hope I'm wrong. He once supported a BAN on ALL semi-automatic weapons (not just so-called "assault rifles"). The bill passed with a veto proof majority, but the legislative session ended today. If Nixon vetoes the bill it will die unless 3/4 of both legislative houses vote to reconvene for a special session to override his veto, and it looks like they may not have that 3/4 majority necessary. It's also possible though that Nixon might sign it, or allow it to become law without signing but not vetoing it if he thinks it will do him some good politically and/or land him a pile of cash from Bloomberg and his astroturf organizations.
Speaking of Bloomberg astroturf, here's a quote from another story about the bill:

Another of the endless repetitions of the "blood in the streets" argument. Of course nothing like that has happened except for the extremely rarest of occasions in all the states with permitless carry over many years and millions of possible carriers. But facts don't matter. Speaking of facts, check out this cop-stated "fact"...
"Police groups also have expressed concern about the changes, including the Fraternal Order of Police. The head of the Missouri FOP earlier said permit-less carry was “ludicrous” and could lead to untrained citizens carrying guns down St. Louis streets."
Because we all know that as of now there are no untrained citizens carrying guns down St. Louis streets. I guess he considers that all those hoodlums/gangbangers/recidivists creating the astronomically high homicide rate in St. Louis are "trained". Maybe it was a misquote. Probably not. They say stupid stuff like that all the time.
