Power is out in my area, Waipahu at 7.30am.
I understand it also went out in Kailua.
Hwn tel internet is still working.
I just tested my genny last week.

You could build a little charger for a cell phone powered by standard copper phone lines.
You could also run a small LED light array off the phone line too, just can't get too greedy because it's not designed to deliver power.
