California's Gunpocalypse

Lucky we live Hawaii for now...

In case you haven't heard, the bills now headed to the state senate are:

https://www.firearmspolicy.org/alerts/breaking-gunpocalypse-just-swept-the-assembly-floor/

AB 1664, which will ban all firearms with a bullet button;

AB 1673, which will criminalize the possession of unserialized firearms parts;

AB 1674, which will ban buying more than one firearm within a 30 day period;

AB 1695, which will send gun owners harassing mailers regarding the myriad of laws they have already complied with.

AB 2607 which expands the recently enacted Gun Violence Restraining Orders to allow your boss, coworker, therapist or professor to file to have your gun rights secretly stripped away.

SB 1332, which is intended to accompany AB 1511 to ban loans between family members, friends, colleagues and would- be victims.

I love California but its laws prevented me from moving their years ago.

Well, you're still in one of the top four states for infringing your rights, so at least it wasn't a very big adjustment.  :shaka:

Just out of curiosity, did you to move from a county in California that issued CCW licenses?

CA is screwed for gun rights, whether Gov Brown vetoes those bills or not they will be passed again and again through the legislature by party line votes until they are finally signed into law. I left in 2005 and this state is only better in the sense that it doesn't have an AWB and you don't have to wait 10 days for every gun purchase.

FWIW I lived 15 miles from Kern County, in the far north end of LA county. LA County - no CCW issue unless you were a celebrity or a large contributor to the LA sheriff department's benevolent association (no joke). Kern county - virtual shall issue, and in CA CCW permits are valid statewide. Remove the SF Bay area and the LA basin from CA and you'll have a solidly red state.

No, I lived in LA County then Orange County. Neither one issues CCW.

The article doesn't mention the loan thing. How does that figure into gun rights?

That's screwed up for sure, especially being a criminal for having extra springs, followers etc.

Was reading some of this stuff on this site (https://www.firearmspolicy.org) and also watched a couple videos on their YouTube channel, and it's really scary. Considering Bass Ackwards Hawaii usually will follow what happens in California.  :(

I wonder if California will go too far and a supreme court decision will end up reversing a bunch of their decisions thereby actually increasing gun rights... A longshot but I can hope right?

So it was no biggie when you moved to Hawaii because you were accustomed to having been denied your right to bear arms. Great.

I lived in Santa Barbara county, which only issued to "special friends" (i.e. ex-cops and campaign donors) of the sheriff. Just south of Santa Barbara, and just north of LA county is Ventura County: shall issue (or very low bar for "good cause"). Go figure. About the only coastal county that is shall issue (SLO county, just north of Santa Bartbara county, standard is somewhat similar to Ventura) until you get all the way north to Mendocino, Humboldt, and Del Norte counties. It seems odd that all the "shall issue" permits issued in all those non-coastal counties are good throughout the state. I'm surprised the state legislature hasn't "corrected" that and limited the permit validity to the county of issue, you know, like Hawaii... if they ever issued a permit. I expect that if Hawaii ever passes a "shall issue" CCW law that the "prohibited places" will include EVERYWHERE outside the home, since that's what the state has already argued in claiming anyone carrying a loaded firearm on their person anywhere outside the home is a danger to "public safety".

I want a "bullet button" that will make my gun fire full auto.
Are these only available in CA?

Yep. That black legislator keeps them in a storage building right next to the barn where he houses his unicorns.

It never ceases to amaze me (I guess I have trouble accepting this reality) how ignorant the people making laws to control me and take away my rights are. I know my state senator, via email exchange regarding a particular bill, stated that he didn't want anyone to be able to walk into a gun store and buy a machine gun (as he believed anyone now could). He failed to reveal to me where that gun store was. Selfish bastard.
