Ammo stockpile...

How much do you feel is a minimum cache.  I have 2 jobs so going to Koko Head is difficult so I keep <500 Rounds of any Caliber I have.  I think the rest of this year I'm just going to keep an eye out for Ammo deals.

Ammo prices will probably go up before the November election.

That's partly why I think maybe I need to pick up a little now.

I honestly keep 100 of each caliber at home and buy the rest at shops along the way to the range to help out the local economy...buy local

I buy more ammo when I see it on sale below when I last bought.  Each time you see a lower price, buy a little more than last time.  Same cost, more ammo!  Drives the average cost of all your ammo down.

Buy the calibers you shoot most when you see it on sale so you're always stocked up.  It'll get used eventually.  Buy the rest in whatever bulk amount makes the most sense for your situation (money and space to store).

Never let lack of ammo be your excuse for skipping the range.

I probably have about 1500 of 5.56 I have bought for practice stuff. I just go through that slowly. A couple hundred of quality tactical stuff.

Probably have about 40 rounds of 12 gauge quality stuff

Probably 200 of 9mm and .40 each.

Maybe another 500 -1000 of various types of .22

I try to buy 1000 Rd bulk from ogc for major cal then I run it to about 500 Rd and try to restock on sales..... odd cals maybe a box or so and 12 ga trap loads I will keep a few on hand so on an open Sunday I can go.... but not a lot
As for 22 back when it was $15 a 500 plus bulk pack I bought a crap load and will pick a few boxes when they are on sale

I also have reloading equipment but use it more for hunting loads

Never too much shootable ammo laying around or needing to be locked up, but you can always have when you need and at a lower price !

Maybe Dillon can build you a custom progressive press that includes a permanently attached swimsuit model to pump your handle.

I have about 12500 rds of 22LR, 2500 of .223 and about 4000 of 9mm.  Those are the only kinds of guns I have right now.  Sold my 270, 7mm mag, 30-30, 30-06,  44 mag,  & 357.  I hardly shoot my AR15, so I think I have enough for home defense or SHTF situations.  I shoot the 22 and 9mm a lot, so I am getting concerned that my supply is running a little low in those calibers..  I just bought 750 rds of 9mm at $11.14 for 50 at Front Sight.  I will be using approximately 500 rds in a 2 day class this week.

1000 is my zero now, every time I get down to 1000, I buy more. I started that in 2013 when I couldn't find any 9mm, or if they had it, there was a limit to 4 boxes. Once went into OGC, asked if they had any, they said yes, the last box.

Enough to last me through a prolonged period of NO commercial ammo available locally, especially in .223.5.56, 9mm; and .22LR..

Many in the 2aHawaii ohana can recall the widespread panic buying and hoarding after the 2008 and 2012 elections. The Sandy Hook school shooting in Dec 2012, and calls for new restrictions meant ARs and high-cap magazines were sold out everywhere .Remember the insane lines at HPD.  Ammo supplies were also soon exhausted or ridiculously overpriced.

Today's Orlando massacre won't help matters. Be ready for more shortages.

According to Daniel at Kanehoe Gun Shop you should have at least 1,000 rounds of every major caliber you shoot.

Personally, I have enough of every caliber that is important to me except for Standard Velocity .22.
