Figured out the rail fiasco
« on: June 17, 2016, 10:39:43 AM »
I think my kids and I have figured out the rail fiasco.

Build the guideway to Middle Street but don't put the rail on it.
Use it for busses.
Build the stations but have it dedicated for express busses.
To the University, to Downtown, to Ala Moana, to Waikiki
People can get transfers if they need to go Mauka or makai.
Put wi-if on the busses.
People can get to and from wherever they need with elevated bus stops in each community.
And it would directly service the University.

Cancel the order for the rail cars and get more busses.

Open "The National Museum of Public Works Fiascos" and charge admission.

Arrange with tour groups for package deals when tourists visit Pearl Harbor, Dole, and Shrimp, to also visit this Museum.

Sell bits and pieces of the rail cars as take-home souvenirs, at high profit.

Take all proceeds of the above, recoup losses, and then invest in 500 yard shooting ranges with reactive steel targets for public use.

The tracks wil just keep the busses going straight.
Like the little kid car ride at Disneyland.

Or tell the tweakers they're free.
They pull them out for free and take them for scrap value.

as for the rail cars, build an at grade rail line (old school) from Dole to Haleiwa with stops at coffee farms and chocolate farms and other diversified ag farms along the line.
Promote diversified ag and Eco-tourism at the same time.
Schools could use it for field trips.

The unused rail cars go into the "Museum of Public Works Fiascos"

We should take the rail cars and put them at different places around the island and make restaurants out of them. Shrimp Trains. Lunch Trains. Ptomaine Train.

Maybe make enough money to support the rail...

Man this is like paying for a haircut and they only cut half your head. :grrr:  Id ask the barber for a refund. So fucking embarassing. We paid for the planned rail and we get half. This should be like Visa. Tell the credit card company charge back because full service wasnt rendered. City officials should be ashamed. They took all our money and gave us one shoe to walk on.

Obama will give the state money to finish the rail.
In exchange for implementing a statewide ban on ar15s and consequential mandatory turn in program.
Then he will have set a precedent for other states to follow.

He will not only give the state some money, he will pardon all the crooked C&C politicians that took money for rail votes.

Lol!  More like you go in for a haircut the barber tells you it will cost $20, then cuts half your hair, then tells you to finish the job it will cost you $20,000 or you can leave now, half done, and it'll only cost you $10,000...  And the half that's 'done' is spotty and full of rat bites.

ACTUALLY....

It is more like, you go for a haircut.

The barber removes half your hair follicles and plants then on your butt.

Then he shaves the rest off your head.

Then he fixes you a toupee.

But it doesn't fit.

Meanwhile you got hair growing out of your ass, which you did not want in the first place.

Should of just built this, hang them from the lights on the freeway, would of been way cheaper and been done already

"There are more than $20 billion worth of transit oriented developments planned along the rail line from Kapolei to Ala Moana Center.  "

It was always about more development, not easing traffic congestion.  Developers stuffed the politicians' pockets to get access to more building permits..

Traffic would be as bad or worse if $20 billion in development happened.  Transit oriented sounds nice, just how much is more housing developments?

As if Oahu needs more "development".  Overcrowded now.

I can't believe how blatant the tail wagging the dog has been.

They planned a station for the middle of a farm field before Hoopili zoning was even approved.

They re-zoned the Kam Drive In sites height limit from 60 ft. To 350 ft.because it's within a half mile of a rail station.

Traffics gonna be worse everywhere with all the development.  :P

Hence my families solution. :D

And Inspectors. At least there would be plenty colorful lunch train cars all over the Island.

I do like Londons idea though.
Build to Middle street then just build the sky tram the rest of the way and up to UH and through Waikiki.
