Dems shut down House floor to protest for gun control
« on: June 22, 2016, 08:36:15 AM »
Imagine the mainstream media response if this had been Republicans "occupying" (the Dems word, not mine) and stopping the functioning of the United States House of Representatives for one of their pet projects. Double standards or hypocrisy? The story contains two short pieces of video showing the House being adjourned due to the lack of order. Imagine what would happen to us if we disrupted any legislative function by "occupying" and demanding, say, a committee hearing for the annually ignored CCW "shall issue" legislation. I think we all know that everyone would be in jail. I notice that 17 of the 32 Reps pictured are women, and 9 to 11 of those appear to be "minority". Similar representation for our cause would be useful in overcoming the stereotype of the neanderthal geezer "white" male gun nut (I admit to being one. Well, not the "nut" part.).

House Democrats blocked the House from doing its work Wednesday by staging a sit-in on the House floor to protest the lack of any votes on gun control legislation this week.

Civil rights icon Rep. John Lewis, D-Ga., gathered Democrats around him, and encouraged the symbolic protest shortly before noon.

"We will occupy this floor!" Rep. John Larson, D-Conn., bellowed as Democrats sat on the floor.

Title of an email received this morning from an online firearm sales company:

Check out these Gun Deals during your Sit-In!

No mention at all in the ad itself about the House sit-in. Wonder how many people on their mailing list get the reference? I'd hope ALL of them, but doubt it.

Lewis (D-Georgia, a veteran civil rights leader revered by Democrats, said action on gun violence is long overdue.

“We have lost hundreds and thousands of innocent people to gun violence,” Lewis said as he urged fellow Democrats to stand with him in the area near the podium, known as the well.

* * * * *

That's a gross understatement and a deliberate distortion. In the 20th century alone over 100 MILLION people, after being disarmed by their own governments' policies, were then murdered by those governments for failing to toe the line with the state-issued propaganda and laws. I guess he forgot.  :wtf:

Order them to disperse, if not arrest them and place them on the no fly list.

Hope they find the floor comfortable because they will be there for a while.

It is funny how they paint the NRA as some corrupting force when in reality the NRA is an organization that represents millions of people. It isn't some corporation just trying to get a sweet business deal, it is a voice of millions of voters.

Yeah, the NRA is millions of fairly ordinary people.

They need to cut the power and lock the doors.  Throw some MRE's and poop bags in there for them.  They can come out when the recess is over.

Are they actually staying in the room the whole time?  Or are they taking turns going in and out so it appears all of them are always in there?

Good, as long as these idiots are doing this bullshit, they are not removing more of our rights.  They should do this until the next president, hopefully not killery, takes office.

Since it was all covered on CSPAN, I hope someone gets the time they started and ended and send them a notice that their pay is docked for that time.  [sarcasm]

I found it amusing that after putting on that show with the parade of clowns and chanting that they just adjourned and went home until July 5.

Can't let anything interfere with that 4th of July BBQ!

I guess it wasn't THAT important.
