I'm getting into these mid-tier steels like N690, Sandvik 14c28n, VG10, 154cm, and going to try the NitroV soon
I like that while they aren't as good as say a S35VN or M390 at edge retention, those mid-tier steel above are very good at corrosion resistance and easy to sharpen, and able to get a razor sharp edge
not buying any more D2 bc not good at corrosion resistance and hard to sharpen
for my use, these steels are great bc I don't need super high edge retention, but I do want it to be corrosion resistant and easy to sharpen, so the ones listed above work great for me. most my uses are for office use/ light duty but I do use them daily to cut cardboard and plastic straps quite often

I got this Ferrum Forge Stinger last week.  I think WE knives makes the parts, Ferrum Forge designs and assembles it.  they do different collaborations with different knife manufacturers, but this one is with WE knives
its a 3.2" Nitro V blade, overall length is 7.3", liner lock with G10 scales
it's on the smaller overall size, but not too small.  I can still get 4 fingers on the grip with my medium sized hands.  it's light too, very light.  in my pocket I forget its there bc it's so light
the action and detent is excellent.  strong detent, I cannot fail the opening even if I try.  but its not too strong, not problems deploying the blade
this will make a great office or light duty knife, which is my intent

this is what I look for in a folding knife:
blade steel: I prefer something like 154CM, 14C28N, N690, VG10, NitroV.  I like these bc of their ease of sharpening, corrosion resistance, and they have decent edge retention and toughness
or I also like M390, S90V, CPM20CV, CPM154, S35VN. S30V.  I like these bc of their edge retention and toughness, corrosion resistance, although these are more difficult to sharpen
opening action:  I prefer a flipper tab.  I don't like the new button locks or axis locks bc the opening isn't as snappy as a liner lock or frame lock.  I don't like opening with a thumb flick or finger flick bc usually that means the detent isn't that strong and I just don't like opening it that way
locking mechanism:  I prefer liner lock or frame lock.  I like it when the frame lock has an inlay that covers the lock bc you can't fail the opening by having your fingers on the lock.  but some don't have a inlay and they work fine.  I have a couple that I have to be careful how I hold it when opening
blade shape:  drop point, spear point, clip point, tanto, sheepsfoot.  I like these bc they are a useful and functional shape for EDC
blade size: 3.25"-3.75" is ideal for me
handle material:  titanium, G10, Micarta, carbon fiber.  really doesn't matter too much if it's done right
I really like a snappy opening action with a manual flipper.  detent on the strong side, but not too strong, enough so I cannot fail the opening even if I try but not too much so it takes more effort to open, I like it in this sweet spot.  I like ceramic bearing for a drop shut closing, although ZT has steel KVT bearing system that works really well
pocket clip: one that is easy to draw and easy to put back in pocket and big enough to sit in a thicker pocket like jeans or thicker pants
lanyard : I like the option of using a lanyard, although it's not a deal breaker to me

that's all I can think of right now.  I'll update if I think of anything else

my WE Knife collection
top to bottom are: Quixotic (20CV), Yucha (S35VN), Snick (20CV)
all have great opening action, all are well designed, WE makes some good knives, Civivi is their budget line and those are good too
I just got the Quixotic recently. this is the best one of the 3 that I have. the fit and finish is flawless, contoured edges, milled titanium pocket clip works great, matching blue anodized screws all around, flipper tab is minimal and works great. I am super impressed with this knife. it rivals my best ZT. it will make a great office/work knife for me,
and I ordered the Quixotic from White Mountain Knives and they gave me this cleaning mat as a bonus. that's a nice touch, probably bc I've ordered several knives from them

just ordered this WE knife. the Nefaris. my most expensive knife so far. (second most expensive if you count the upgrades I did on one of my ZT's)
I got the one with polished bead blasted blade and titanium handle with aluminum foil carbon fiber inlay. (it's not made of aluminum foil, that's the design of the carbon fiber)
limited edition.  they are making 155 of this knife in this configuration.  there are 6 different configurations. one of which will have Heimskringla Damasteel blade.  the rest have 20CV steel which isn't bad either
can't wait to get my hands on this bad boy. comes with certificate of authenticity. as in the top vid
super excited for this one!  :geekdanc: :geekdanc: :geekdanc:

Ordered one of these that was on sale for $42 shipped.  Supposed to be a good knife for the price.  Going to use it for my search and rescue gear.

got this yesterday. WE Nefaris
https://www.knifecenter.com/item/WEK22040F2/we-knife-company-limited-edition-nefaris-frame-lock-flipper-knife-cpm-20cv-polished-bead-blasted-clip-point-blade-gray-titanium-handles-with-aluminum-foil-carbon-fiber-inlay
20CV steel, titanium frame lock, carbon fiber inlay. the fit and finish is superb. milled titanium frame, contoured edges. it fires out of the hole like lightning, impossible to fail the opening. milled titanium pocket clip that works great. certificate of authenticity. WE storage pouch. WE also gave me a roll up knife bag for free. 3 other times they gave me free stuff too. I really appreciate that about WE knives
mine is serial number #017 out of a total of 155 that they made in this configuration. it sold out in 1 day. I'm happy I got one. my best knife that I own. best knife that I ever handled myself. I am super impressed with this knife. worth every penny   :geekdanc: :geekdanc:
