I wonder what would happen if a thousand or more gun owners opened carried and peacefully assembled at the state capitol for a rally against the stupid gun laws of Hawaii and the refusal to issue CCW permits.  I think that would be too much for HPD to handle by themselves, so would the governor call on the National Guard?  Would HPD panic and start shooting?

I think they would form a group and start to arrest a portion of the protestors. They don't have to get everyone, just scare enough people not to do it again. I think it would be peaceful, as long as some idiot doesn't muzzle a cop or something stupid.

They might also try to document the participants using photos and video and making cases against them later but that would be difficult to win in court.

If we were really worried about the felony violation but still wanted to make a stand, an ammunition rally could always be held. Doesn't have the same weight though.

Note that in the firearms statutes, the word “firearm” is often followed by the words “and ammunition”. Thus, ammunition, even in the absence of a firearm, is subject to the same restrictions as firearms in terms of transport and places to keep and carry.

I wish we could get the same amount and type of solidarity that WA did here in the islands. I can only hope.....

A member from another gun forum that I know well was in attendance.  I didn't ask if he was carrying, but he said it was an awesome experience to see so many come out.  WA is very much a blue state with many having anti-gun views.  From friends that grew up there (I lived there for 11 years), things wasn't always so.  Seems like whatever disease took over California spread to WA, particularly in Seattle, which is actually the overall minority, but a very vocal and affluent minority.

Suspect Washington is like Oregon: one large city dominating the politics of the state.  Portland is a miasma of liberalism according to a buddy that lives in Oregon.  he says the state is quite conservative, but helpless to overcome the liberal hordes in Portland.  Vote fraus is notorious in Portland as well.

Could well be Seattle does the same thing, ramming their agenda down everyone else's throat.  States with so much rural land are likely never truly leftist.  Colorado is another afflicted by this problem.

I think so too.  I have cousins that live in Portland and just outside of Portland and it seems very much like that.

I have been chatting with my buddy in WA and he said that there have been rallies, but this particular one at the capitol barely made the news in the Seattle area.  He mentioned that was likely because there was no violence and therefore no story. . .

I was a military kid, so I was born in WA and bounced around a bit but I graduated in WA and went to college in OR.  WA is literally two different states.  The control is in Olympia and Seattle with a heavy liberal slant.  Western WA is more like Idaho in how people think.  Oregon is similar in that the control comes primarily from Portland with Salem down I5 as the capitol.  However rural Oregon, like WA is very different in how people think.

When I was a kid in WA gun culture was a part of life, from hunting, to recreation, to self defense.  Firearms were a normal part of life growing up, no different than fishing, football, soccer and baseball.  Transplants that moved north from CA did a great job at bringing their mentality with them.  It is like a disease.

Place to keep ammunition is a misdemeanor though. Hence you could get arrested without worrying about being a felon or having committed a violent crime.

At least WA allows me to cc with my UT permit and they issue permits.  Hawaii is worse and even CA issues permits in some counties.
