As far as I understand it's a con and not legal here in the state for general public. Pro's would be fun as heck to play with

The label states "Less Lethal". Makes me wonder how much less lethal is this compared to let's say buckshot? Is it 10% less, 50% less lethal, 80% less, 90% less lethal? Even at 90% less lethal it still means 1 out of 10 people shot with this would be killed.

I do see some uses for this, though very limited use.

It's one of those things that seem like a great idea at first, but when you think about how and when you'd use it, and the liability, then you realize why they aren't used much.

They have a limited distance where they can be used.  Shoot too close and they become more lethal.  Shoot too far and they're ineffective.  It's difficult to gauge the proper distance with a stationary target, and more difficult with a moving target.

Then the other thing is if you use it against someone with a weapon and it's ineffective then there's a higher chance they're going to get you.

Then there's liability.  You mean to wound him but instead you kill them.  Or you mixup the ammo and fire buckshot instead of the less lethal.

Then there's a lot of other stuff that can go wrong.

Maybe to scare off wild dogs or pigs but might just piss them off and make it personal.

I think they fall under the ambiguous "dangerous weapon" definition.

Quote
§134-51 Deadly weapons; prohibitions; penalty. (a) Any person, not authorized by law, who carries concealed upon the person's self or within any vehicle used or occupied by the person or who
is found armed with any dirk, dagger, blackjack, slug shot, billy, metal knuckles, pistol, or other deadly or dangerous weapon shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and may be
immediately arrested without warrant by any sheriff, police officer, or other officer or person. Any weapon, above enumerated, upon conviction of the one carrying or possessing it under this section,
shall be summarily destroyed by the chief of police or sheriff.

The allowance for pepper spray is in the ROH - Revised Ordinances of Honolulu, chapter 41-37:  Possession, Use, and Sale of Pepper Sprays for Self-Defense

Ammo is not a weapon...... and that only applies to people concealing, not at home.

No, not just concealed:

But seriously, I never considered a shotgun for home defense.

I've been tempted to get some "dragons breath" but don't know where I can shoot that.  I guess it could classified as less lethal.

I have less lethal ammo for my paintball gun.  Ghost pepper powder with a .38 cal marble inside.  Also hard abs plastic with a glass marble for weight.  Those are reusable and I tried them out.  Goes completely through heavy cardboard box and buried itself in my friend's broken surfboard after breaking through the fiberglass.  I had my Tippmann pistol set at max power so I could only get about 20 shots from your standard 12g CO2 cylinder.  What I like about the Tippmann is you can keep a new cylinder in the gun and the first pull of the trigger will break the seal.  Pull again and the gun fires.  I imagine shooting someone with the ghost pepper will incapacitate someone enough for you to get away, and the marble will hurt more than if fired from a good sling shot.  The magazine holds 10 rounds.
