Why do you say that?  Is it something she should have known, or are you speaking from the POV of someone who has the advantage of video hindsight?

Not picking a fight.  Just wondering if you are blaming her, or saying "If only she had known he was going to try and take her gun?"

A little bit of both, Tactically it was a bad idea to follow him into the funnel inside the bus, she was leading with her gun drawn in one. Luckily backup was close at hand or this would ended very very differently

Hard to say in an unknown situation and stress.  He could have attacked the bus driver or other passengers on the bus and she could end the situation right there.  She could be better at tactics.  Though I'm saying this sitting in a comfy chair now.

No bystanders were hurt.

It's a tactical mistake on the part of the idiot who got shot, thinking he can attack one officer in an enclosed area while another is right behind her.  As you said, she had backup, and I don't count that as "luck" since she was aware he was there.  If she didn't have that backup, maybe her decisions would have been to wait instead.  (??)

She did an outstanding job of not giving up her weapon while yelling for help (from what I could see in the video). 

In any physical struggle, the outcome determines whether the decisions one made were correct.  Things happen so quickly, you don't have time to weigh all the facts and choices.  As they say, no battle ever goes according to plan.  Chaos is the norm. 

I say good job!  Bad guy down, and the officers and driver walked away.

Just my opinion.  There's always room for improvement, but like aircraft landings, any gunfight  you walk away from with the same number of holes in your body you started with is a good one!   

The real question is: why was she running into a bus with a gun drawn when there are still so many sandwiches to be made?

She led with her gun stretched out in one hand, useing her other hand to pull her into the bus, She then makes a corner (even tho you can see across it, it was still blocking her path/direction of travel,) with the gun/hand fully extended, At this point the bus is empty (you can see the last person get off when he jumps down) except for the driver (who she nearly shoots) Her backup/partner is obviously at the back door of the bus.

This all of course is from watching the video, But leading a corner with a gun in one hand is just asking to lose it.

Sometimes I would love to see people go through various force on force scenarios and SIMS.  Results are often amusing to downright scarry when critiqued accurately by a true experienced and professional instructor.  Individuals rarely if ever perform as well as they do as when they Monday morning a situation.

There is an organization that conducts studies on such things but I haven't seen many videos of the tests/experiments.

I would have entered the bus, but would keep the gun close and announce it to my partner.

I'm very pro police in most of these situations but there was no reason for that female to have a drawn pistol in that situation.

The other policeman was three times bigger than that little skinny guy and could have easily taken him into custody without shooting him.

I agree that she made a mistake on how she held the firearm. At one point the man did have a weapon (fire extinguisher) so she had reason to escalate force. She entered a narrow pathway with the firearm outstretched though which enabled him to grab at the weapon and that was the biggest mistake on her part I think.

She had reason to enter the bus quickly though. The guy had the weapon and the bus driver was cornered. Had the bus been empty then they could have taken a slower approach.

I read all of the comments/discussion before watching the video.  It all happened VERY quickly!  Not anything like the scenario I was expecting from reading the criticisms.  I actually thought the bus driver was shot in the initial tangle as well as the first officer possibly getting shot in the struggle when the second officer joined in.  All told, it really went down in seconds, with fractions of seconds of reaction time when the deranged guy jumped at the officer.  From the video, we can see that something is clearly wrong with the guy.  Then it's almost as if the bus rolled up on the officers and it seemed like they were there prior as opposed to rolling up on them in response and she was caught almost completely off-guard. 

Stress and adrenaline can make people do weird things.  While I've never been in a struggle for my life over a gun, the closest I've come to shooting under stress is under the "stress" of a timer buzzer and your shooting buddies watching (or in many cases laughing at you. . . but that's another story).  There are many times where I've gotten to the end of the course of fire and be thinking "I had that going differently in my mind".  And that is after having a chance to walk through the course of fire many times in my head in preparation.  Yeah, the officers will likely go through the video and definitely have stuff in the AAR to improve upon, but it really did all go down in a blur.
