This may be worth looking at with the recent BATFE decision that a pistol can now be converter from a pistol, into a rifle, and back.

Assuming you weren't joking even with the rolleyes, only when it's in rifle form. If you do it in pistol form, you just made a Short Barreled Rifle.

Well, as long as the barrel is greater than 16", which this kit appears to be, you're good to go because it's a regular rifle, and you can go nuts.

Wow. That is some goofy stuff.

I kinda like the idea of the long barreled (i.e. legal) carbine conversion. No hugely practical, but not glaringly impractical. The main disadvantage compared to putting the same cash into some other real carbine is that you're stuck with the 10 shot magazine here in Hawaii.

Its an interesting thing to do, at any rate. Sort of like the ol' cowboy pistol and rifle in the same cartridge except that its actually the same gun. If I happen to be flush (fat chance...) when they finish the XD 45 version I might try it out. A hot 45 out of a 16" barrel would be fun.
