Why are conservatives losing ground on nearly all sides?
« on: July 23, 2016, 02:13:05 PM »
Conservatives once stood for judicious use of government power and minding our own business in foreign affairs. Today, 100 years after the beginning of the progressive revolution, conservatives don't conserve anything. They vote for big-government schemes, favor globalism over real capitalism, and advocate an aggressive foreign policy that installs American troops around the globe. They've lost any claim to the mantle of "limited government," and lost every battle concerning abortion and social issues. Worst of all, Republicans have created a bloated jobs programs for themselves—Conservatism, Inc.—that shows nothing but contempt for its own voting base.

Because our conservative politicians "care" about the 2A but in reality it is just a talking point and voting point.   The small battles the anti-gun side is winning just does not matter to the conservative politicians because to them it is common sense and to us loyalists it is huge deal.

Similar to the complaints of today's liberals and progressives, conservatism today is far what many would view conservatism was a generation ago.  You essentially summarized the degeneration of the historical core values conservatives believed in the past: small federal government and more power to the states, strict adherence to the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, isolationism over imperialism, and etc.  In addition, I will even say today's conservatives share many things with today's liberals and/or progressives in that they both believe in big government spending, foreign wars of aggression, and the catering to Wall Street and the Big Corporations.

Maybe they got complacent, no longer feeling they have to earn the votes.

In the 20th and 21st century the definition of "liberal" and "conservative" in America has been so completely distorted and convoluted.....  It's no wonder whole generations are confused and lost.

I would add that the current situation of the masses not knowing what to believe is deliberate and by design.

I justify this position by rhetorically asking the simple question, what group or group of individuals would benefit from the current chaos among the masses, for example having the liberals and conservatives fighting each other?  The obvious answer is those who are benefiting from the economic status quo.

And what groups would that be?  The ultra-wealthy of course (i.e., the top 1%).

We must remember as both the liberals and conservatives, democrats and republicans, gun rights and gun controllers, and etc. fight each other, business and financial interests continues unabated and continues to prosper.  As as result, everyone's attention is focused on the resulting social and economic turmoil and not on the ultra-wealthy that are laughing at us killing each other off, as they go to the bank to count their money.

Just something to think about...      :o

There's the Tea Party and Libertarian options.  Or run for office yourself.

Exactly!

Are we to believe that the ultra-wealthy such as Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, or Rupert Murdock cares what BLM does or whether the Bill of Rights is being subverted?  Probably not.

In fact, it is in their collective interest to keep the masses distracted or in a constant state of conflict in order to maintain their behind-the-scenes financial and political dominance over the government as well as everybody else.

Those are good options, but you will need a lot of money if one is to succeed going that route.

I agree.

However, since it the wealthy that influences who sits at the highest levels of government power, it is "da government dat works for da wealthy."
