The Hawaiian Humane Society says two dogs are in its custody, as requested by the Honolulu Police Department.

There are a lot of homeless in that area, many that live under the off-ramp structures.  In any case, a terrible way to die.   :(

There was an article after weeks dogs attacked a bull  in Waimanalo that went ballistic and attacked a nearby resident.

What's been happening (especially in kalihi valley) is that stray hunting dogs have been forming packs and reverting back to a more feral nature. My friend encountered one of these supposed packs in another valley, and said that there were even little dogs in the pack, also highly aggressive.

With stray dogs forming packs, the lack of food resources and a more feral nature, it's easy to see how this could happen.

But we dont have any dangerous animals in Hawaii, So we dont need to carry firearms when hiking......

Growing up on Molokai, I would to go hunting at least once a month by myself when I couldn't  find a friend to come along.  My mother would tell me, "You have to,watch out for wild dogs."  I told her every time I have seen a dog or dogs in the mountains they ran as soon as they saw me.  With a high power rifle in hand plus a Browning Nomad pistol in .22LR on my hip, dogs didn't scare me.  Animals and birds are pretty smart.  A lot of the time, unless you were fairly close, they wouldn't run or fly away if you were empty handed.  Carry a gun and they would take off even at a distance.  Thinking back, I realize how dangerous walking in the mountains alone was.  Not from human or animal predators, but if I got hurt.  No cell phone back in the 60's.
