This is not an example of "normal" but it does illustrate that everyone is human, including professional Law Enforcement.  However, as a human being, is it acceptable to support people intent on injuring and killing indiscriminately just because they're not doing it "in one's backyard"?  Especially when it's a Law Enforcement Officer?  How am I supposed to trust the organization that hired this person with my life?

That said, should it acceptable to entrust one's personal safety to anyone else but themselves?  I'm trying to figure out this "Common Sense" reform ideology but so far, common sense seems to be lacking IMO.

my common sense tells me, if I know there are bad people out there I better prepare for that.
better to be prepared and not need it, than to need it and not be prepared.

knowing that LEO's cannot save you in an instance of danger, my common sense tells me that I need to be at least as prepared as the LEO's

It's the FBI manufacturing a terror plot using entrapment in order to justify their overblown budget. They do this all the time, basically finding people who have mental health issues or severe learning disabilities and harassing them until they give into their demands. Stasi sate tactics to keep the sheeple shivering. The saddest part is it works.
Sharing is caring, but forced redistribution is communism.

We only get one life, why would anyone trust someone else to defend your one life. I am all for calling 911 for whatever emergency comes along. But! If things  go sideways I am prepared and will do what is necessary to save my own ass. cops are employees. They are not hatched or cloned or anointed by God.

If you are trusting what is essentially a stranger to save your one life. Then you are a fool.

A cop can take a life but cannot give life. We need cops but I ain't trusting them or anyone else to save my life.

I agree with you 100%.  Everyone should be responsible for their own safety.  When I get to be too feeble to defend myself physically, I am going to start packing heat because at that point I wouldn't care what the law says.  I am not going to let some a-hole think he can rob and beat an old man because he is younger, bigger, stronger or what have you.  If I call 911, it will most likely be for fire or an ambulance, not the police.  Now days having the police come to your house can get you killed.

You are responsible for your safety.   Sad nowadays that home invasions can come from 2 sources and both want you disarmed and compliant.
