Did you read my original post? I offered a point of discussion for the original poster to consider adding to his original post. I said if he wanted to add it cool, if not no need.

I answered the specific question because Heavies suggested I answer what it means personally to me. So I did and now you jump down my throat because what? My answers aren't emotionally moving enough for you?

I offered it as a talking point and refrained from saying anything more unless the original poster wanted to include it. I explicitly said that so as not to take the discussion to a separate topic unless New Guy wanted to. How is that trolling?

I said I have no emotional connection with the 2nd amendment. I explained that I like it, I support it, etc (as previously stated) just that I don't become emotional about it. I also said it was kind of a broad topic. I was hoping New Guy would narrow it down a bit.

Whatever. You guys could have left my comment where it was but instead you guys decided to pick it apart and make it the new topic. Heavies responded to my post and I clarified and it could have ended there, a civil conversation. But rather than have that happen you guys had to make it personal, attacking the post itself. This was all avoidable.

I think deleting the thread is overkill.  There are some well worded, sincere replies to your original question.  Those should remain.

If we get in the habit of deleting a 2-page thread, throwing out the good with the bad, we're wasting the time and effort expended by many members.

When things have devolved to this point, I would prefer that things be cleansed by fire.

I repeat my request to Mods to delete this thread.

Flapp and London, I must agree with EEF.. New guy asked a question and EEF responded with his personal opinion.  You two could not help yourselves but jump on EEF for posting an opinion. 

New guy, sorry.. this started out as a good thread but has devolved to such because forum members cannot behave civilly.  I will lock this thread.
