Firearms Permit
« on: October 02, 2016, 10:26:30 PM »
Aloha All,

I need to renew my Permit to Aquire Long Guns soon and have a quick question.  I don't have Kaiser (have HMAA) and I was wondering if my Doctor does not respond to the HPD letter regarding mental health, will my permit be delayed?  I'm asking because I may have seen somewhere on the forum that your Doctor has to now respond on order for your permit to be processed.  Thank for your help.  Mahalo!

No, not delayed
They respond if there is a reason to deny
No response or delay means you ok

It is my understanding that the physician does not need to reply and that a no reply is no problem. The communication from HPD to your physician instructs them to reply if they feel you should not own firearms. My physician does not reply. I'd just call HPD firearms division tomorrow and get the scoop straight from them (808)723-3190.

Hpd might send you a form for your doc to fill out but it's nothin you don't have to take it in to your doc
