PSA - Take care of your reloader
« on: October 14, 2016, 11:55:40 AM »
It's been a few years since I've reloaded ammo (lazy) and I left my Lee single stage and Dillion 550 out in the open.  Now I've decided to start loading again but everything is rusted.  I sent my Dillon back to the manufacturer and they will restore everything for $67.50 (+$45 shipping there).  Now I'm grinding, sanding, painting, and oiling rust off my Lee, dies, and accessories and it is a PITA.

So keep your reloader clean and oiled.

That is all.

Dang it, after all that work getting my press ready it breaks.  Got through prepping 100 30-06 cases then the stupid aluminum lever connector thingy at the bottom breaks apart so I cant use the handle.  So now I'm down a lee and the dillon.  At least the newer updated replacement part is free, just $12 shipping.

The curse continues.  I spent the morning making 25 rounds with .5 increments of powder to test out today.   Loaded my car up for the range and I drop the -ammo box which opens and spills out the rounds.  All mixed up.  Now I gotta redo em.

Got my dillon back from the factory.  Appears to be a different press, probably a slightly used refurbished one.  They replaced all of the rusted and old parts with new ones.

Good, fast, and easy service.  Just the cost to ship it back sucked but at least I didn't have to pay return shipping.

whynow?

Right on.  Dillon CS is terrific.

Same here, I own a Lee Load Master and when I feel it needs a  "Major Overhaul" I take EVERY nuts and bolts and put them in a bucket of solvent then reassemble every part oiling every moving part and also shoot grease in the three grease fittings.  I believe that with one  2 or even three hour session of reloading will pay for its self AGAIN!!!.....and again!!!!
Gun control is a must...that is why I hold my gun with both hands when I shoot.
