Obama commutes sentences of 98 inmates Thursday;
All related to drug charges.
I'm not talking marijuana here but the production, distribution and trafficking of PCP, Crack, Cocaine, Meth and other narcotics. :(
42 had life terms :o
17 had firearms charges  :-\
6 were convicted felons (one was 3 charges) :P

42 had life sentences but only 6 of them were convicted felons? I would expect them all to be felons.

6 of the 17 with fire arm charges were already convicted felons (one with 3 charges)
i:e. It was illegal for them to have guns.
Gee, these convicted felons were breaking the law  :shake:

I think it is interesting on what types he is letting go though. Previous presidents seem to free all their corrupt friends but Obama is freeing regular criminals. I am sure he will free some buddies too but just an interesting observation.

"regular criminals" ?

A burglar is a regular criminal.
A car thief is a regular criminal
A cop taking bribes  is a regular criminal.
A  shoplifting, jay walking, pot smoker driving drunk  is a regular criminal.
Chief Kealoha  our Mayor and Governor are regular criminals.

These criminals, judged non violent even though they had firearms while committing crimes were spewing poison to our children and creating a society of degenerate's, dependents and in the end, more criminals.  :wtf:

He has just released those that are  the scourge of our nation to continue destroying our it.   :'(

You mistake my pointing out the differences with defending his actions. I merely found it interesting that he was pardoning people other than just his corrupt buddies.

No mistake.
In no way am "defending his actions".

If you meant that you were not "defending his actions" but rather noticed he was letting out criminals other than "his corrupt buddies" fine.
My point was he preaches against drugs and guns but drugs and guns criminals go.

Gotcha!

Although I hesitate to make judgements just based on numbers. Thing is that numbers don't tell an in depth story. Some of the people getting pardon's might have stories that paint a different picture than just convictions. Maybe the trial was questionable or maybe the charge was inappropriate, maybe the individual changed their life around seriously, etc. Maybe these pardons actually make a lot of sense if we read the actual cases. I am sure we can all think of a case where justice wasn't applied correctly.

There should be a bill that anytime anyone is pardoned (president, mayor, etc...) there should be a reason.  Even if the reason is "he's a friend of mine or I owe a friend a favor".  At least the public will know why someone was pardoned.

There are already news on some of the criminals released already committing crimes. I know I read of one that went and committed murder as soon as he got out.
