Although I could be one of those in favor the fireworks ban, I'm not. We don't really do fireworks at our house - the most was a few morning glories tossed onto the street or sparklers or pop-pops, i.e. kiddie stuff. My oldest son was always afraid of the loud noise - during his first New Years we ended up huddled with him in our walk-in closet because he couldn't stand the noise and our windows suck at noise attenuation. We spent the next four New Years in hotel rooms. This was the first year since 2008 that we've stayed home for New Years, and fortunately our second son (1 yr. old) just slept through the commotion. I'm still against it because it is punishing the majority for the acts of a few, kind of like how the UK and Australia went with bans on firearms after highly publicised shooting incidents. And like everyone knows, there are STILL illegal fireworks going off after the ban, just like there are STILL illegal firearms in the UK and Australia. Further, why permit firecrackers but ban sparklers??
