For those that don't know, he is in charge of HPD's firearm section and recommended we get a big dog instead of having a firearm for protection.

Probably just do a collection for donations and put their names on the christmas card.  Make it a cheerful and festive event and it'll probably be donated to charity later.

He'll probably be like WTF at first, but he'll laugh about it later.  I know the department will enjoy it.  It's Christmas, even enemies have to come together sometimes.  In WWI at Christmas time, there would be a cease fire and both sides would come out of their trenches to celebrate or bury their dead on the battlefield.  After the holiday was over they resumed killing eachother.

That's a nice gesture, but you can't say it's from the 2A Hawaii site because you don't own the site, nor are you a representative of the site.
There's nothing to stop you from sending gifts to the dept in your name or perhaps the meet up group which you started.

Personally I find the overall experience of going to the firearms dept unpleasant and avoid it as much as possible, which is probably what they want.
