So this morning I got up bright and early to check out the HPS (Hawaii Practical Shooters) club shoot at Kokohead.

I showed up bright and early and saw them setting up.

They were setting up a pistol shoot. 

It was like USPSA style shooting.  It looked fun so I asked them if I could shoot with them.

One of the organizers said "sure, you just need to do a safety 101 brief."

I did the obligatory safety brief which included the basic firearm safety rules and the club safety rules.

After that, I watched as the other shooters went through the paces then it was my turn.

I got to engage multiple targets while on "the move".

It was incredibly fun.

On too of all the fun, everyone there was real nice. They seemed very helpful and welcoming.

In the middle of the day, a couple of people walked up to see what was going on and they were welcomed to watch. One of the members even explained to them what kind of shooting it was.

This is a great shooting club. After the shoot, I signed up for an annual membership and am looking forward to lots of fun shooting with this club.

I was just checking out their website last week so your post is right on cue.

I'm glad to see they are squared away and worth a look. Your experience of them inviting you to shoot and their openness to strangers is what I like to look for in a shooting club.

Good to know.  I looked at their schedule and will try to stop by one of the February shoots.  Their vids make it look hella fun.
