How could things ever change in Hawaii re our rights to keep and bear arms? (Read 2020 times)

Reading an article from the Lone Star Gun Rights (Texas group whose main focus is "constitutional"/permitless carry) wherein they provide quotes from an interview with a Texas legislator sponsoring such a bill (They have a link to audio of the interview at the url below). The situation there is that the Republicans have substantial majorities, but a fair number of those are RINOs and have actively worked to have bills in previous years stalled in committee and never make it to the floor (sound familiar?). Rep. Strickland suggests the following:

"We will need grassroots support in making them do the right thing and follow the actual rules," Strickland said, "but if they do, we can get this thing onto the floor. And I'm convinced that Republicans can't afford politically to vote 'No' against this bill."

Here we see, I'm sorry to say, the hopelessness of our situation here in Hawaii, no matter how "active" we are: There are no realistic possible re-election negative consequences for Hawaii legislators who annually violate their oath of office to support both the Hawaii state and United States constitutions. They have already effectively eliminated the "bear" portion of the right: not one single person in the entire state has the right to lawfully bear arms outside their home for self-defense. So there's one half of the right banned, without any repercussion. I seriously suspect that the Hawaii legislature could craft some bill that would be a de facto ban on ownership/possession/"keep(ing)" of all firearms (just like their "may issue" CCW law is a de facto ban on carry), thus completely eliminating the Second Amendment and it's Hawaii constitution (Article I, section 17) correlate in its entirety, and AT LEAST 80% of them would get re-elected... maybe 90% or more.

Thus my provisional conclusion that Hawaii will see no relief from the tyrannical "progressive" infringements constantly being incrementally increased except via actions of the federal government, which may or may not occur in some form or other under the Trump administration(s).

If anyone sees any other effective options, please tell us.

It is frustrating being retired military, citizen of the City and County of Honolulu, owner of firearms and very vigilant of violent events happening in our country. People here will elect for the PARTY rather than a candidates values & issues that need addressing. These party voters will NOT change their minds NOR change their PARTY. Hawaii legislators will counter-act any bill regarding firearms (conceal carry or otherwise) that allow legal firearms owners of their constitutional right. As of Dec 5th, Hawaii became the first state to implement a ridiculous "Rap-Back" system that puts "law-abiding" firearms owner on a "watch-list" by the FBI. I won't get into it, most if not all of you need no explanation and understand. This measure does NOTHING for the criminal thugs that have guns illegally purchased, unregistered & commit crimes with those firearms. How can you track something thats NOT on a watch list? Those of us that legally own firearms are responsible and understand that we won't do anything to lose that right to own/bear arms.
