It must be wonderful to live in a state where the government employees, even at the level of Attorney General, actually support the rights of the citizens and frown upon carpetbagging civilian disarmament billionaires. Question 1 was the initiative on the recent ballot requiring all private sales to undergo a background check. The initiative passed by less than 1% and LOST in every single county in Nevada except for Clark county (Las Vegas). Just one problem...
http://ag.nv.gov/uploadedFiles/agnvgov/Content/Publications/AGO_2016-12.pdf"...the Section Chief of the FBI's NICS Section informed the Department that the FBI will not perform NICS checks directly requested by Nevada firearms dealers as required by the Act... enforcement of its criminal penalties will have the unintended consequence of punishing conduct that is widely and reasonably perceived by Nevadans to be lawful. This would create an unintended Catch-22.
Because the Act expressly... forbids the Department from being contacted to run background checks, it requires and criminalizes the impossible. Under longstanding legal principles, Nevadans are not required to perform the impossible, and are therefore excused from compliance with the Act's background check requirement unless and until the FBI changes its position set forth in its December 14, 2016, letter"

Bloomberg and his billionaire buddies outspent opponents (including the NRA) almost 3 to 1.
If "90% of Americans, and even 80% of gun owners, support universal background checks", how come spending $20 million, while outspending the opposition 3 to 1 only resulted in a win by less than 1%? There's something wrong with that math. It couldn't be that they lie about 90% of Americans support universal background checks could it? Especially when people find out the the actual law they propose turns people who temporarily lend a gun to a friend into criminals.
I wonder if Hawaii will ever have an AG who puts the civil rights of the people he serves above the anti-liberty ideology?
