Very much!  Haven't really had time to work up a real load, but so far VERY happy with the accuracy of this old .45.  Just threw in 45 grains under a patched round ball and been blasting away.

A friend and I shot 9 rounds in the short time we had at the rifle side, 9 rounds on steel at 50 yards standing without much difficulty.  Very happy!

My usual loads are 60 grains for 50 yards and 70 grains for 100 yards. My rifle hits POA with those loads.

Great video, great fun !

Son2 was practicing flint knapping by working on a glass bottle bottom.  I never asked him how it all worked out, but he did mention he was going to get a "rocklock."  (Love that term.)

One of my constant wisecracks whenever another restriction of arms and components comes up is that maybe we'd all better learn how to knap flint.

I do believe that the radical and crazy notion that the Founders meant what they said, is gradually soaking through the judicial system.

Went out to the range on Sunday to play with some loads. From 45 grains to 65 grains in 5 grain increments.  Goex 3F, .440 hornady ball, .018" precut and lubed Ox yoke patch.

Best group of the day was 50 grains. 10 ring is about 1", used a six o'clock hold at 50 yards.  Shot off the bench.  I hate shooting from the bench...

Waiting on some .445 ball to come in.  Plan on trying that. Maybe some thicker patch and experiment with different lubes.

2aHawaii day at Kokohead on Sunday! Saw Inspector, Oldfart, Stangzilla, and some others Puuloa folks, old friends that I haven't seen in years...! It was packed that day.

Even had a few folks ask questions and checked out the rocklock! Lol.  They didn't want to try though...  Maybe next time. :)

Nice group.  You must be having fast ignition to be moving on
to try different patches and diameter ball.   Me, I'm using
maxi ball until I get faster ignition.   Sometimes its a click,
pause and boom.  I'm going aw, man and the shot goes off
between the aw and the man.  Flyer.

The last two times I tried her out it was doing good, but on Sunday I did have a little frustration.  Thinking about it, I theorized I put too much oil down the bore when I cleaned it last time, and didn't swab it out good enough.  This rifle has this little recess down at the bottom of the barrel.  A patch on a jag can't swab all the way down to the very end near the touchhole.   I'm thinking it gummed it up some and gave me issues.  This time I tried not to drown it in ballistol before I put her away.
