And you thought we had it bad. So much for the bullet button.

"Time to Address the Root Cause of Our Gunmageddon Loss
The first reaction of many is to blame the “keyboard commandos”. The guys who make a lot of noise on the Internet, but won’t lift a finger when it comes time to get off the couch and act. Others have lashed out at the NRA, which was totally AWOL during this effort. The NRA did not spend one penny to help us. There is truth to that, but the blame game gets us nowhere. The problem here is clear and it has nothing to do with apathy or the NRA."

YET

Many of these liberal states pass what they can and when they get away with it other states copy.

Cali had an ammo licence and Hawaii has Rapback. Add them together and you have every gun owner registered firearms or added to Raback/a database. Then comes the bans
That is the end goal.

Makes me wonder where's the NRA in this or have they given up on blue states like Hawaii and California.

I believe they dont help Hawaii because its not their support base. The number of NRA members in the state wont cover the costs of any legal action here so they ignore us.

I'm a life member of the NRA.
I've contacted them about lawsuits.
They told me to wait on Peruta.
They are pushing Peruta to the USSC.
I haven't talked to them about USC Title 18
section 242 to use against  police, just yet.
Bottom line Hawaii is so screwed up it
isn’t worth the effort.  we just need to go
our own way and prepare against Democrat
tyranny, which strangles our islands.
One bright light is the Hudson bill.  If
that passes I'll stuff my concealed permit
in areas where the cops don't like, and get very
rich when they act like pigs.

Hope for the left coast in coming lawsuits.   This and SCOTUS picks are why I voted for DJT.

only one good provision

If you are ordered to California, then you may bring your “assault weapons” with you, but you must register them with the Cal DOJ

At least until 2018...

It puzzles me how DC v. Heller can overrule the handgun ban but Cal has no problem with banning assault rifles. I guess if this is overturned, they will be banning specific guns until SCOTUS has overturned a ban on every different type.

Dangerous and/or unusual

That being said SCOTUS refuses to hear the case as well as magazine capacity because it knows it can find it one way.

The ban is unconstitutional and they are not ready to say that yet.

Great... same thing I was thinking too. As DUMB and as sheepish as it sounds I was holding off finally getting an AR because of the concern of this, but again, that W-A-S a stupid thought to even have as it does nothing in itself. So I said "screw this" and picked up a Colt AR6721 to close out 2016.

I couldnt remember the 2013 SB # but I managed to find the old thread about 2013's SB219 and it was poorly written with so many inconsistencies: https://2ahawaii.com/index.php?topic=5950.0

I personally wonder how much of this was drawn off the "Sandy Hook" fever of late 2012 as obviously I can't recall any other similar AWB proposals since, but then again I only started purchasing firearms in 2015.

With the election of Trump and the repudiation of Democracts in the majority of the US mainland, I wonder if there will be a "pettiness" and a "eff you" attitude heading into this year's legislative session just so Hawaii's swamp monsters can flex whatever muscles they have to show the Democratic Party can still choke the life out of law-abiding citizens in 2017 and beyond despite the Republican dominance in all three branches of government.

just to make a guess, that permit for ammo and limiting purchases per month must have some downtown swamp monsters drooling.

Limiting ammo is not a violation to the 2a according to anti-gunners.

I think the AWB is mostly in response to San Bernadino where the terrorists obtained the rifles from their friend who bought them at a gun store.

With Trump in office, California is under the belief that they are their own separate country like Texas in 1836. It will be interesting to see how they react when the fully staffed SCOTUS starts ruling against them, especially when county clerks start disobeying the law. Their only hope is for Ginsburg to live forever.

Sorry, meant to specify that the old proposed Hawaii SB 219 in 2013 was drafted out of the national "response" to Sandy Hook and while nothing has happened in Hawaii, our "leadership" isnt immune to jumping along with trends no matter how unwarranted they are.
