OGC

Picked up my SA EMP 4 commander lightweight 9mm from OGC today. Since they were closed over the holidays (a rest justly deserved) it was quite busy with others receiving thier firearms. What impressed me was the courteous service and a great system transferring all firearms to thier owners. t took them just a little over 35 minutes! Transfer price was great as well. Bought three boxes of 9mm while I was there and will go back to buy a case this weekend. What impressed me the most is they thanked me for my business and apologized that they did not have the pistol in stock shook my hand. I know where my next purchase is going to be coming from(SW Victory .22). THANKS OGC FOR GREAT SERVICE!

The $40 FFL fee is cash only unless you buy a bunch of ammo but there's a CC charge so pay cash to save money.

Bought something from them before, total was over $200, I wasn't told about a CC fee until after my transaction. Wasn't too happy with that.

First recommended review on Yelp:

From their public website:

Occasionally they waive the fee for sales events:

I'm positive I've seen a sign at the register as well.  it's always your choice to research in advance.  Getting "unhappy" because you had a mistaken assumption credit card fees were already part of the price isn't their fault.  In fact, if you paid cash, you'd be unexpectedly HAPPIER that you saved the CC fee other retailers charge you even if you pay with cash.

I work at a small family owned pet store, we never charge people to use a credit card, we just require that the purchase be over $10. Other places I've seen charge $.75, but not quite this high. Prime Sports, SEC, and DCT had never charged me a fee when purchasing any firearms from them either and I got there on weekly occurrences.

But like you said, it's my fault for not reading the online reviews. sorry that my opinion made you upset.

Why is it people have to be childish?  I was upset?     Same BS I see from Hillary voters when they lose an argument.

Rather than have a higher profit margin, they give people the option to save 3%.  Turning that into a negative because you don't understand it?  Whatever makes you feel better...    :stopjack:

So my opinion makes me a Hillary voter? Never said I was nor would I ever.

You went off on quite a rant so it seemed to make you upset.

I'll make sure I check all online postings before shopping there in the future. Thanks again

I buy here very often and always pay in cash because of the 3% credit card fee.  To put that into perspective if you buy $500 you'll spend an extra $15 just to use your card, $1000, $30 just to use your card.  Keep that in mind if your buying at one of their sales too as it'll negate your savings.  Always pay in cash there.  Also Security Equipment and X-ring don't charge CC fees.

Just always do research online too before buying

I'm glad I could help educate you and make future firearm purchases more pleasant for you.

I've been very pleased with OGC for many years.  I hate to see one new customers' negative opinions go unanswered when the experience was not the store's fault.

I've heard of the good ammo deals and can appreciate that, I just like to score points on my CC since I use it to purchase a lot of firearms.

OGC has some great deals, especially on ammo.  I'm sure there profit margin is under 10% on some of their sales where taxes and CC fees are higher than their profit.

If that's your objective, then I recommend paying the 3% and pretend it was part of the price -- just like you'd pay at any other store that charges you a hidden fee on all purchases.

Either that, or patiently wait for a sale.  They often run sales where they pay your excise tax, CC fee or both on a minimum purchase amount.

OGC is on Twitter.  You can follow them there, and you can also sign up for SMS text messages.  Here's how:

Beware .... if you sign up, you'll be extremely tempted to drop everything and run to the store when great deals hit their Twitter feed!  It might have unexpected financial consequences!   >:D

Kudos to OGC for upping their customer service. Maybe they turned over a new leaf for 2017. I only go there for sales on ammo. As for this 3% extra CC charge, cant agree with that, but it is their business and they can do whatever they want. What if i paid cash for a $3k rifle, can they waive the sales tax? Probably not. Every store has their pros and cons, best thing to do is research.

Actually, yes.  They've paid the tax for customers quite often, in fact.

Does anybody notice that in general, our prices are well over 3% less than many of our competitors ?   Definitely not saying we win all the time on lowest price ,  but that's a generalization, due to our quality buying ,  it's often the case .

The cash discount is already priced in to our advertised prices,  so if for example, you were paying 10% less then you can get it from anywhere else ,  if you add in the 3%, you still save 7%.

If you want us to be able to offer the lowest possible price ,  we have to protect the minimum margin on what we sell things for to cover the overhead of having over 2000 guns in stock .

Plus debit is the same as cash,  so as long as your bank doesn't have a really low daily purchase limit, that's always an option...

Not telling you what to do or how to run your business. I have made many high dollar purchases from you in the past. I have recommended numerous customers to your store in the past and many of my friends have bought many high ticket items in your store. I understand your business model and concept. It goes against my normal reaction to have to pay 3% for using a credit card. Don't get me wrong, I understand what you are doing and applaud it. What I am saying is when you first informed me of this policy (years ago) my initial reaction was I won't be doing business here again because it is costing me 3% more. When it sunk in what you were saying I planned my purchases with you around using cash (which I no longer carry) or my debit card. It was just the initial surprise/reaction which I had to think about that put me off at first (for a very short time).

For me, at first, it would have been better to price your products with selling by credit card and then offer a 3% discount if one uses cash or debit card. This is just me and the way I think. It seemed like the way you offer this is sort of like a punishment to use a credit card. As compared to giving a 3% reward for using cash/debit card. I realize it is all perception. The prices are the same. Bottom line is the same. And the offer to use cash/debit card and get a discount is the same. It is just how it is presented to the customer that is different. And maybe for some, easier to understand and deal with. For those of us that have been around for a while and are used to the way you do business it is normal for us.

Again, not trying to tell you what to do or how to run your business. Just trying to offer up a different perception of how to do the same thing that you are doing now in way that may be less off putting to newer and less connected customers.  :shaka: :shaka: :shaka:
