Just got this email and thought possibly some gun owner in the state of Hawaii could possibly maybe be sorta interested, or not. I replied and asked where the training is being held on the Big Island.

Aloha Hawaii Republicans,

The HRP is sponsoring a free training at HQ this Saturday, January 14, 2017, from 10:00 to 11:30 AM.  The training will be led by Mike Palcic, Carole Kaapu, Janet (Grace) Hochberg and Jim Hochberg.

If you want to learn how to participate in the Hawaii legislative process bring your favorite device that can get you online, and join us.  The focus is on equipping Hawaii Republicans to become active voices for our community at the legislature as the legislators consider passing new laws.

Please join us.  If you plan to attend, please RSVP to Jack James at HRP HQ 808-593-8180

Hey Puna guy,
Where is "HQ  it takes me a while to get to Hilo and even more to Kona.
The other question I have, is what chance do we have against all the Oahu tyrants?  When
it comes to Democrats, you can't fix stupid and most Hawaii citizens are on the left side of the
Bell curve IQ wise.

Hey Puna guy,
Where is "HQ  it takes me a while to get to Hilo and even more to Kona.

First, I am not a Republican, but am on their email list because I tried to get them to make a public statement supporting "shall issue" or "permitless" open and concealed carry outside the home for self-defense. They weren't in the least bit interested in supporting my quest to have my civil rights restored. Go figure.

"HQ" is somewhere on Oahu. I found it interesting that they (the Republican Party) sent this out to everyone on their email list without apparently considering that there might be some people on other islands that might be interested.

Here are the email exchanges (I'm including these verbatim as I don't want to be accused of cynically distorting their "outreach" effort):

Me: Where is the training being held for Big Island residents?

Aloha [punaperson],

I have not scheduled anything yet for the Big Island but will discuss doing
so with the County Chairs.   Thank you for your interest.

Me: thanks james. i'm already familiar with signing up for committee hearing announcements, finding bills, submitting testimony, etc., so i'm wondering what else might be included in the training, in case one gets scheduled for the hilo area. thanks.

Aloha [punaperson],

You still could be part of our Republican effort [punaperson].  We should find a way
to hook you up with the group.

That was the last I heard. I thought maybe he was going to have some kind of live internet feed of the meeting. It's 2 PM Friday afternoon, but maybe it's in the works...  If I end up hearing of some access to the training for Big Island residents I will let you know ASAP.

The other question I have, is what chance do we have against all the Oahu tyrants?  When
it comes to Democrats, you can't fix stupid and most Hawaii citizens are on the left side of the

Chance? Right now? My best guess is: ZERO. But for some reason, stubbornness, anger, whatever, I'm going to keep making whatever efforts I can playing the game the "system" provides. I think the people running it are full of sh*t, and liars, as evidence by my attempts to gain access to what should be public documents for various police departments and how they stonewall, refuse to play by the government's own rules regarding UIPA formal requests and appeals, outright lie, and, well, other stuff. I guess I just like to see the tyrants publicly discuss their arbitrary and capricious unconstitutional policies and then lie about it all, hoping that some day a few more people will notice... and care.

Just got this email from the Republican Party of Hawaii. I guess if they only got 22 people on Oahu they likely knew that they would only get one or two here on the Big Island, so not worth it. They never did get back to me saying anything about it though.

"The Hawaii Republican Party gave a “How the Hawaii Legislature Works and How You Can Engage It” seminar last weekend with Jim Hochberg and Carol Kaapu (2016 House Candidate).  They put on an informative information session organized by Jack James, Executive Director of the Hawaii Republican Party.  22 people showed up, and I encourage them to start to practice their training in the halls of the State Capitol starting January 18th and ending the first week of May 2017."
