Sen.Gabbard's 17 Round Handgun Magazine Capacity Bill S.B. 213
« on: January 20, 2017, 03:39:12 PM »
My thanks (and hopefully yours) to Senator Gabbard for introducing this bill to increase the handgun magazine capacity allowed by law from 10 to 17. I asked the Senator to introduce this bill, which he happened to have left over from an attempt in 2007, so I guess every 10 years it's worth a try! The previous version had a 15 round capacity limit, but I listed for him some of the current crop of handguns that have more than 15 round standard capacity magazines, including many of the relatively inexpensive "police trade ins" that can be had online, all of which have magazines that are greater than 10 rounds, and thus are not "bargains" for Hawaii low income residents if they would have to buy new 10 round magazines.

Please thank the senator for attempting to inject some rationality into firearm issues in Hawaii: sengabbard@Capitol.hawaii.gov

You know it won't even get a hearing, right?
We have to be law obedient, but the only
way you'll change things is by force.
Hudson bill in the US congress is the way
to go.  That will be legal force.

Unfortunately with all Democrats this isnt going anywhere.  The last time a pro gun law was passed was with Lingle and Sam Slom in 2010. The law prohibiting firearms confiscation during a government declared emergency and the castle docteine law.

Is your suggestion for readers of the "Legal and Activism" thread "Do nothing, because nothing can be done"? Or "Once you've changed the legislature to a Second-Amendment-supporting majority THEN you can talk about supporting rights legislation"? Or what exactly?

I suspect you are right about no hearing. I suspect you are right that the only changes in Hawaii's arbitrary and capricious violations of our civil rights will happen when forced by judicial mandate from a higher level. I suppose I just want to keep compiling a year after year record of the violations of their oath of office by most Hawaii legislators. Not that the traitors will ever be brought to task... but still...

i was at the range this past weekend, and a shooter mentioned Tulsi Gabbard proposing the 17rd mag cap bill.  gee whiz, Mike Gabbard does a great thing, and his daughter is attributed for the good deed?  sucker can't catch any breaks, huh?

And that's the information level of an actively shooting gun owner... imagine the level of knowledge of the "general public". Just curious, was the shooter for or against increasing the mag limit?

that shooter would've liked to see all these stupid "assault pistol", "assault rifle" laws to go away.  on the 2A team.
