tried ketchup on the bottom of my Revereware pot....not so great
ketchup works much better IN the cookware, especially in spaghetti sauce
===============
It's the vinegar in the ketchup
You can use different kinds of acids too.
Lemon Juice
Oxalic acid
Phosphoric acid

I've heard those others but never seen someone pour ketchup on brass. Seems like a huge waste. Personally, I do fine with just dishwashing soap and a tiny amount of Lemishine.

Urban Legend has it that Taco Bell Hot Sauce works good for cleaning pennies. Never tried it myself but if you Google it there are a ton of pages talking about it.

Seems like you value ketchup.  I had a friend in college that LOVED ketchup.  He put it on everything.  He would even put ketchup on his rice and eat just that. . . super fun and nice guy, but quite strange.

My former inlaws are ketchupholics, all of them.
Very strange indeed.

It's probably the vinegar in the ketchup that is doing the cleaning.  The acid could, in time, damage the brass structure, if it isn't completely cleaned and neutralized.

My first wife loved catsup (also known as ketchup) so much that she put it on everything as well. Breakfast, lunch and dinner. Only thing that didn't get catsup was dessert.

For me, catsup on eggs was so gross. LOL.

The friend I talked about is mostly Portuguese.  He might have been part German though.   ;D

I don't recall him putting ketchup/catsup on any dessert or anything sweet like fruits.  But he seemed to put that on mostly everything.

On eggs, try Mae Ploy sweet chili sauce.
Goes well with a lot of other foods too.
I think it has crack in it because people get addicted  to it.

Have not tried it on brass.

Totally off topic, but seemed to go there with the OP, so. . .

Depends how my eggs are prepared.  Mostly have over easy and if so, shoyu.  If scrambled, usually ketchup, but sometimes shoyu, sometimes nothing.

I'm not a big tabasco person, but I know people who put tabasco on most things, almost like that other friend put ketchup on mostly everything.

Salsa is for chips and Mexican food.   ;D

Tried the Mae ploy? It's pretty good.

But if you must get back to topic, I have tried the vinegar, bathroom cleaner, zud cleanser, bar keepers friend, pineapple, toilet cleaner, ketchup, lime juice....everything except lemishine.

Never tried that.  Not sure I would like the sweet part, but I am willing to give it a shot.

And wasn't trying to steer back on topic.  I don't even reload.    Though I do have a bunch of brass that is ready to be worked on when I do.   ;D
