now installs a fire sprinkler and wants to make it mandatory for homes
http://www.hawaiinewsnow.com/story/34425238/legislature-tackles-question-of-making-residential-fire-sprinklers-mandatory

with that same logic if we get robbed at home and a gun was used to defend ourselves shouldn't they mandate that every household have a gun?

Anyone with a mortgage does, too.
The reasonable man adapts himself to the world;
the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself.
Therefore, all progress depends on the unreasonable man.

I believe his home burned due to his grown son's unattended cooking.

So because his son can't cook, all buyers should have to pay $10K to$20K more for a new home.

It's already optional. He wants it mandatory.
More regulation.

that seems to be the pattern with all these great idea fairies.
It happened to them now they want the rest of us to have it via law.
There is a balance between cost and risk. With that said, we have the nation's highest cost of RE.
But anyways, this kind of logic should lend itself to relaxing gun laws and empowering the law abiding citizen. Instead we tend to go in the opposite direction.
Just read an article about the anniversary of Travon Martin's death. They are posturing the issue as victims of gun violence. >:(

I am sure if someone digs into it enough, you will find the fireman or some politician or family member owns a sprinkler company or sprinkler inspection company. Eventually, all sprinkler companies will need to get additional certifications and some random commission will only issue it to relatives of said fireman or politician. If they were smart, they would also own a flood, mold and fungus company to deal with all the defective residential sprinklers that lead and flood homes. Certainly fees and taxes will have to be raised to pay for the mandatory yearly inspections of sprinklers.

You already pay for it via tpms sensors in cars. Some stupid person with no concept of basic physics driving around on 5psi inflated tires in a vehicle with a higher center of gravity kills her kid and blames the tire manufacturers(and wins!) instead.  Drivers don't even keep tabs on their instrument clusters let alone react to "idiot lights."

Lane departure warning, blind spot monitors, active cruise control....all of this stuff adds cost and complexity to vehicles.  Slowly making drivers worse than they already are.

LMTFA (leave me the f alone), im responsible for my own actions.  Mic drop.

yep.
Examples are cars with backup cameras. Because people ran over their own kids. They now find comfort in mandating them for everyone - to prevent (their mistake) from happening to anyone. How about teaching people to be more responsible?
