Youth rifles (Read 3032 times)

Youth rifles

Took my son to the range today for the first time and he had a blast shooting my ruger 10/22.. since the 10/22 is a little too long for him I was thinking about buying him a youth rifle. Anyone have  suggestions on his first rifle?

The single shot Cricket is awesome to teach proper firearm safety.  It was my son's first rifle

You can also consider a "tacticool" 10/22 stock with a collapsible buttstock to fit both you and your son.
There's all kinds of models out on the market.

Plus your son will probably think it looks cool.

I will add the Ruger American Rimfire Compact Model. Fully adjustable comb length and I think you can buy the standard length combs when your child gets old enough so the rifle can go from youth model to adult model. However, double check what I said since I am doing it from memory.

You could saw the end of the standard buttstock to make it shorter and add a buttplate.  You don't need anything fancy since it doesn't recoil much.
