Pistol slide CUTS Illegal???
« on: February 07, 2017, 10:15:26 PM »
Hey guys, ive recently bought a Glock 30 & am waiting for my permit to come thru,  soon as i get it i was going to send it out to a company in texas that does SLIDE CUTTING & Cerakotes.  But i had googled Hawaii gun laws & on one page i seen this.

"It is unlawful to willfully alter, remove, or obliterate the name of the make, model, serial number, or other mark of identification of any firearm or ammunition. Possession of such a firearm creates a legal presumption that the possessor has committed the unlawful act."

The slide package I wanted to do does involve taking off the make & model of the gun for lightning ports & weight reduction  but not the serial number.  I thought it was ok to do these slide cuts but in reference to the paragraph above sound like i cant get the make & model number machined?  :wtf:

The frame of the Glock (lower) is technically and legally the firearm.  It has the maker, location, and serial number on it.  What's on the slide is optional.

Yea I thought it was perfectly fine to do the slide machining but that website threw me off.  Thanks for your info, i was going to be bummed if I wouldn't be able to machine my slide

Interesting MOD package though.  I am a fan of serrations/cuts on the front of handgun slides.  The port is also interesting.  Looking forward to how those mods work out for you.

^^^This.  Because this would be the part you would have to register with HPD and cannot purchase online without a FFL or license.  You can order slides, barrels, triggers online with no problem.  Some companies do put serial numbers on everything.  My VP9 has serial numbers on the barrel too.

Ahh yes, why didn't i think of that?  Dont need an FFL to order a slide.  & i was looking at Glockstore & they already sell some of their slide with out the markings anyway.  I just tripped out because i seen that article.

Sig P320 the mini and full size, they make a frame that you don't have to register because you can swap out the trigger from 1 size to the other.  It's a drop in trigger set, so real easy.
