I finally got rid of all my programming, scripting and SAN/NAS books. Did it in December so I could take a charitable deduction off my taxes for last year. Between my wife and I we gave away almost 300 books. Of course 260 of them were hers.

I tried for the first 2-3 years I was here on this island to get a position as a SAN/NAS Administrator. No jobs for that out here at that time. There was not a lot of development work going on out here at the time either because I have a background in software and hardware testing as well. So I finally decided to stay in consulting and inspection in the construction industry.

Fortran was required for my engineering degree.  Total waste of 5 credits.  I guess it did make me appreciate the trials that the older generation of engineers had to by doing programming by punch cards and stuff.  Sorry if anyone here had to go through that.   

Many college classes teach you skills and lessons beyond the apparent subject.  Like some courses may teach you how not to be a dickhead (in that case teacher) know-it-all with a power trip.  Damn Einstein wannabe.  Yeah, I'm still a little salty at that one.  Haha.  Some courses may teach you that you never want to deal with that specialty in your general field. 

I've not seen anyone else with the same irrational obsession to interject in 99% of the threads on any board, ever.
