Schatz, Hirono vote to uphold "prohibited person" status for SS recipients (Read 1300 times)

Schatz, Hirono voted yesterday to uphold "prohibited person" status for SS recipients who have fiduciary assistance (such as a person to deposit checks, pay their bills, etc.). This was another Obama lame duck bullshit regulation that turned millions of people into "prohibited persons" who had their Second Amendment rights denied without any due process (and the process to attempt to get them back after bureaucratic removal would be a very costly attorney/court process). Trump said he would repeal it. Congress voted yesterday to repeal it, Trump will sign (he may have already).

Of course Schatz and Hirono (they "support the Second Amendment, but...") voted against the repeal.

The interesting news is that of the 10 Democratic senators up for re-election in 2018 from states won by Trump, 5 of them voted to repeal Obama's regulation, i.e. they voted with the Republicans and Trump. They are making lots of efforts to appeal to voters in their states by not seeming quite so "obstructionist". I'd still rather each of those states field really strong Republican Trump-supporters (not RINOS or Never-Trumpers) and that all the Dems would be defeated. Manchin seems the most desperate, as he has sided with the Repubs more than any other Dems in the cabinet confirmation votes.
