POTUS ask for more power...
« on: January 25, 2012, 05:56:40 AM »
This stuff gets scarier day by day....

http://www.theblaze.com/stories/this-is-the-obama-sotu-clip-that-has-beck-so-upset/

Will he bypass congress, when they do not do the things he wishes?
Will he continue the wholesale distruction of America?
Will he administrate gunbans, no matter what the opinion of the public or congress?
So he will ask for 'dictator for life' next???

No, the useful idiots in Congress will beg him to take that job.

Wow. That's upsetting?

Glen Beck said "consolidated power" which really would be alarming but what the president actually said was "the power to consolidate the federal bureaucracy" and he is speaking specifically of the executive branch.

A power he already has... which is the only thing I see as out of place: why would he need to ask congress for the power to organize the branch of government that he is the head of?

I wouldn't worry too much. This congress has been pretty good about not giving him anything we actually wants.

That office gets any more power and it won't have to ask any more.

I do believe that the radical and crazy notion that the Founders meant what they said, is gradually soaking through the judicial system.

How do we know what he was referring to?  He used the term federal bureaucracy, not executive bureaucracy, and given that he's asking permission, I don't see any reason to assume he was only talking about the executive.

I just hope the Repubs don't think that it would be good idea, so that they can use it if they get the reigns. And they are probably tempted!  :grrr:
Either side, it's a bad idea all the way around.

I certainly wasn't ruling them out when I mentioned the useful idiots in Congress.  The purpose of political parties in Washington is to keep track of what poop smlls like what.

"The executive branch also needs to change. Too often, it’s inefficient, outdated and remote. That’s why I’ve asked this Congress to grant me the authority to consolidate the federal bureaucracy so that our Government is leaner, quicker, and more responsive to the needs of the American people."

"It's" in the second sentence refers to the executive branch mentioned in the first. It follows that the 3rd sentence is also about the same subject - though there is some wiggle room to assume otherwise.

I thought the Republicans wanted leaner, more efficient government? Isn't big, wasteful bureaucracy one of the things the is bad about the normal Democrat MO?

Sounded more to me like he was saying "Hey centrist voters, see? I'm not a wasteful spending Democrat" more than he was saying "I will be the Emperor of the (Until Recently) Free World!!!"

Ya'll sound exactly like the miffed Democrats during the reign of King George II. And I mean exactly - down to complaints that he was moving the country towards totalitarianism, was trashing our constitutional and civil rights and "destroying the country."

The point, or at least my point of view: every one of those mofo's is contributing to the erosion our rights. If you pin it on one party or the other you are missing at least 1/4 of the problem. The other half of the problem is whatever and whoever it is that is ~really~ pulling the strings behind this mess... and I'm pretty sure they don't appear on any ballot.

You need to quote in context.  Here's what he said:

Quote
Some of what's broken has to do with the way Congress does its business these days. A simple majority is no longer enough to get anything - even routine business - passed through the Senate. Neither party has been blameless in these tactics. Now both parties should put an end to it. For starters, I ask the Senate to pass a rule that all judicial and public service nominations receive a simple up or down vote within 90 days.
The executive branch also needs to change. Too often, it's inefficient, outdated and remote. That's why I've asked this Congress to grant me the authority to consolidate the federal bureaucracy so that our Government is leaner, quicker, and more responsive to the needs of the American people.

He talks about the Legislative branch, then the Executive branch, then talked about the "federal bureaucracy" and how he needs the authority to consolidate it.  You sound like you're doing a poor job of deflecting from the Emperor's new clothes...

Roger that. Thanks for the context, Cougar. I was just going on the article since I'm pretty much wasting time posting between bits of work and didn't watch the whole address.

Even so, what's the big deal?

He asks the Senate to pass a rule requiring the yes/no vote within 90 days. The Senate politely (or not) tells him to fuck off: even Democrats are going to bristle at the idea that the Executive Branch is going to tell them how to do their jobs. Ain't gonna happen. It rhetoric. He's trying to set up a good cop/bad cop picture that distances him from the vast disdain the American public has expressed for how well Congress is doing its job. He pitching for center by talking up stuff there is no way Congress will actually do for him - setting them up to be the bad cop again.

It might work but I doubt it. Independent voters are more than savvy enough to say "yeah, so, have you noticed how often Congress does what you ask, Mr. President" and brush it off for the rhetoric that it is.

We all agree, I think, that the Emperor has no clothes. But I think the Emperor is the whole beltway and the money that infuses it and not the figurehead that gets put up to draw all the fire.

Yeah, I think we agree more than disagree.  Washington DC is a massive sinkhole and we'd be better off without it.  I asked Santa for an asteroid for Christmas, but no such luck...  :D

Meanwhile Fed announces flat interest rates until 2014 and gold responds by jumping to $1700 per ounce. They know what's coming and are quietly getting all their chess pieces in place. The only thing that Obama and Beck are good at doing is distracting the people who are still listening and hoping this giant s#itstorm is going to work itself out.
If you dissolve your enemies in acid, technically that's turning your problems into a solution.

I dont care what he says, 3 years of listening to the same old crap and getting the exact opposite; how long are people going to fall for his facade?  When he talks about saving money, he actually means diverting the funds elsewhere and creating a bigger problem while keeping his original idea in the spotlight.

Problem is that most of the sheep pay no attention to what is going on, all they see is what 'they' tell them.  Many Americans do not go into any research of other sources, they do not look at how one piece of legislation, tax, or law might effect the bigger picture,  most don't even know how this political system works.  Do they even teach this stuff in public schools these days?  ('they' is not any particular party)

All they see is the president saying the same old lies, and that the country is getting no where with congress blocking all of his moves... And for the cheap price of just a little itty bit of your freedom, I can fix this all up very quickly, if only I could "consolidate the federal bureaucracy".

This is what scares me,  the sheeple that don't think, spoiled and lazy, they expect the government is the cause and solution to all our woes.   They will say,  'yeah sure, why not, you know the easy road'.  Spoiled, naive America...

An easy sell IMO, how do you think he got into office in the first place,  anyone who actually looked at BHO should have see this all coming from miles away.  All one needed to do was look.

You know when sept. 11 happened I was still working for the DoD not really a conservative kinda up the middle, and pretty blind to what was going on, a  real "sheep". I was "republican good, democrat bad" that kinda stuff.

But we had to work 12hr shifts and I just started listening to talk radio. I know what everybody's going to think. "oh boy here we go a right wing talk radio nut." but damn!! The stuff the I never knew and I started to research more and more. More and more started to make sense and know I'm "Republican bad Democrat bad" I am in no way a republican or a democrat and now in no way a sheep. I'll look at both sides and see which makes more sense and research. Really doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure it out.

No but they'll teach you how you put a condom on a cucumber or a banana.
