The S.I.R.T saga,
« on: March 20, 2017, 07:19:45 PM »
So i bought myself a S.I.R.T pistol at the gun show and used it today, First of all i got to say its a great tool. i downloaded some software and went at it. after about 30 minutes tho my front sight fell of and disappeared into the either. So now i have to try and find a replacement glock front sight and work out how to put it on.......

there is a few really good youtube videos that show how so shouldent be a problem and i have an e-mail into the manufacturer to see what they say.

If anyone wants Glock OEM sights, I should have 3 sets somewhere. If anyone ever needs a set, just let me know and I will try to dig them up.

I also have a SIRT with the weighted mag. Great teaching tool with a variety of uses from diagnosing stuff like sight alignment and trigger pull as well as other training uses.

Programs i use for it:
www.shootoffapp.com
www.lasrapp.com (use code TPMLLC to get 10% off)

Most people use the gun wrong, the shooter should not see the laser.  So I adjust the laser a couple clicks down so the front sight hides it.

SIRT is life.  I always use them for the dry-fire portion of my classes.
"The rifle is a weapon. Let there be no mistake about that. It is a tool of power, and thus dependent completely upon the moral stature of its user. It is equally useful in securing meat for the table, destroying group enemies on the battlefield, and resisting tyranny. In fact, it is the only means of resisting tyranny, since a citizenry armed with rifles simply cannot be tyrannized."

I used the Shootoff app recently as a display for a local gun show. I downloaded it and used it with a projector and SIRT pistols. It took me a while to figure out how to setup and run the program where I had to watch youtube videos. I tried the bouncing balls, dueling tree, falling plates, and par time modes. It was fun and attendees liked shooting at the bouncing balls.

Compared to Lasrapp:
+ Free
+ Can use projectors, monitors, and TV's in addition to paper targets
+ Animated targets
+ Background images make it appealing

- Initial difficulty learning how to setup and use
- User interface needs a lot of work
- Missing training related options (no followthrough trace, scoring, etc)
- Audio commands and feedback suck.
- Buggy and lags a little.

I think Shootoff is great for entertainment, training on moving targets, and is a free training option. Lasrapp is a much better training program that is more refined and leads to more shooter improvement.   I'll use both systems. Lasrapp for my own training and teaching classes. Shootoff to entertain people and practice some competition scenarios
