So are Police Officers registered in Rapback?

If they register a private firearm

And I should probably stop buying that stuff as well since there is not urgency to continue to be overstocked. Yeah, I have a problem....

We should probably start a reloading support group, especially if we're hurting the ones we love.

They are registered for their job as a position of trust.

They must be registered a second time if they get a personal firearm, which most will have.

I don’t see as many military people carting in their arsenal into HPD. I suspect they made the decision to not bring their guns with them to their duty station.

Or not to register them and keep them on base housing where HPD has no jurisdiction

I'm not very happy with my handguns right now and would have upgraded for sure if it wasn't for rapback. Something is better than nothing I suppose.

HPD has "concurrent jurisdiction" with the military police on ALL the bases on Oahu. If there are warrants issued to a service member on a military base HPD/Deputy Sheriff's will serve the warrant, inform the MP's on the base and confiscate firearms surrendered by the service member. State of Hawaii Deputy Sheriff's have the same jurisdiction across the state.

Rapback is THE reason I haven't already renewed my long gun permit.
I too did not bother to renew, figured it would require rapshit, but never asked, either.

When I'm in line, 3/4 of the line are military and many of those are in uniform.

I've seen that. What I referred to are those that use a cart filled with rifle cases. At least in the last six or so times I've been back in the past year...

Most military I know (and I was one) do not have huge gun collections.  Guns in base housing have many restrictions, including storing the guns in the base armory if living in on-base quarters.

The most enthusiastic gun owner in my Oklahoma office was a Staff Sgt who liked to hunt and shoot skeet.  He lived off-base, yet his collection was still a couple of .44 Nighthawk/Redhawk pistols, a semi-auto shotgun, and a Citori O/U he bought for skeet.  I believe he only had one rifle for hunting.  He was an avid reloader, too.

So, I'm not sure where you got this idea that all military will need a "cart" to register their "arsenal", but it's entirely bogus for most enlisted.  Some higher ranking officers I have seen carried in half a dozen long guns and about as many pistols, but that's the exception, not the norm.

I haven't renewed my long gun permit and bought anything in part due to rapback, but mainly that I don't really need anything else.  There's some used deals that I was considering and probably would've bought if it was not for rapback.

Seems like the classifieds are a bit slower nowadays.  Rapback combined with people already have what they need.  There's lots of gun stores out there now, wonder if some will start to close up.  Hopefully some of them will get politically active this legislative season as a way to differentiate themselves from the rest.

rapback is something i chose to just deal with, and bite the bullet on.  everyone dealing with it their own way.   There's a lot of stuff I've been buying that I wouldn't have been able to if I was worried about rapback. As far as second hand sales, the way I look at it is there's less buying competition for me.  The 1911 releases next year, and I really do want one to go with my garand and carbine.

And chances are, along with "gun insurance" and other idiotic new law proposals, expanding rapback to all firearm owners is a real possibility.  So it'll all be a moot point if they tell you to either apply for rapback by XX date or turn in all your guns.

I haven’t bought anything since Rapback started. Mostly because I have what I need and want and did some buying ahead of both the ‘16 election and Rapback. Yeah, there are guns that I would like to buy since that time, but my gun fund has also gone down, so focusing that mostly on ammo and other accessories, also training where I can.

I haven’t ruled out giving. If I did, a CZ P10c and a couple others are tops of the list. I’ve also been considering selling one or two guns, but seems like the market isn’t looking good for that, so I’ll hold out.

BTW, anyone looking for a Hungarian AK with wood thumbhole stock?  :P  ;D

With all the hate about rapback, did anyone submit a bill to repeal rapback for next month's legislative session?  Time is ticking.

I know probably not going to be passed this year, but if there's a hearing then issues can be brought up like why are we paying for something that isn't up and running.  Prep work for the future.
