Homeowner's son shoots, kills three would-be burglars

Three would-be robbers were shot and killed Monday when an Oklahoma homeowner's son opened fire on them with an AR-15, authorities said.

Wagoner County sheriff's deputies were called to the home in Broken Arrow, southeast of Tulsa at around 12:30 p.m. local time. When they arrived, they found the three dead suspects and two uninjured residents.

Sheriff's spokesman Deputy Nick Mahoney said the suspects enetered the home through a glass back door with the intent to burglarize it. It was not immediately clear why they picked that home.

Mahoney said the suspects encountered the homeowner's 19-year-old son, who opened fire after an exchange of words. Two of the suspects died in the home's kitchen while a third was found in the driveway.

It was not immediately clear whether the suspects were armed, but Mahoney said the preliminary investigation indicated the shootings were in self-defense. The homeowner's son volunteered to give a statement at the sheriff's office.

This is very, very unusual for us [in Wagoner County]," Mahoney told the Tulsa World. "It's not something we're used to."

Lucky he don't live in HI.  The news would be interviewing all the perps family and friends about how they had plans to attend Princeton or Yale after turning their lives around and how they would give you the shirt off their backs.
Here's another link from a Tulsa newspaper.

Resident Defends Against Three Masked Home Invaders Using Firearm

Oklahoma law allows for the use of lethal force against anyone entering or trying to enter your home without your permission (Hawaii: not so much.). The resident used "a battlefield weapon of war assault rifle" to defend himself (aka "AR15 semi-automatic rifle"). I suspect that within 48 hours we will hear that these criminals were "good kids" who were either planning on attending college in the fall, or had recently "turned their lives around" and were on the straight and narrow after a "troubled youth" but had "never done anything like this before".

Woman arrested after Broken Arrow-area man fatally shoots three intruders

BROKEN ARROW — The son of a Broken Arrow-area homeowner fatally shot three masked intruders, two of whom were juveniles, during a home invasion Monday, authorities said.

The three intruders were wearing all-black clothing, masks and gloves, Mahoney said. They forced their way into the home through a glass door in the back, he said.

Two of the deceased were 16 or 17 years old, and the third was 18 or 19, Deputy Nick Mahoney said. Their names had not been released by Monday evening.

Mahoney said the homeowner’s 23-year-old son shot the man and two boys with an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle after they broke into the house.

And politicians wonder why we want more than 10rd mags.  If 3 people break in, then that gives you about 3 rounds per intruder.  Provided you get 100% hit accuracy.

Glad to hear Oklahoma has laws that make sense about deadly force usage.

I was living in Oklahoma when they passed that law.  The news dubbed it the "Make My Day Law."  LOL!

Before the law, you had to prove the threat intended to cause harm or kill -- not just there to take your stuff and leave.

After the law passed, there was a series of TV PSA's that gave scenarios, demonstrating when you can or cannot shoot someone legally.

That was in the mid-to-late 1980s.

The Oklahoma law nicknamed “Make My Day” allows the use of deadly force by individuals who have a “reasonable
fear of imminent peril of death or great bodily harm” after someone illegally enters their business or home.

At least the news there got their facts and didnt create fake news.  "AR-15 Semi-automatic rifle".  Not Assault rifle that most news outlets use.

She's facing 3 counts of first degree murder plus other counts.

That would make anyone talk as if they are remorseful, humbled and contrite.

She planned it, recruited her friends, and participated as the driver.

I hope she gets what's left of her life to sit in a cell and face the guilt of what she did to her friends and their families.

Add to that the potential emotional problems the resident may face after killing 3 teens.  I hope he can handle it and move on.

the only person she should be thinking about blaming is herself.
She's trying to put some blame on the homeowner with her sob story so some bleeding heart libtard will side with her.
Sick of that.

But did they? They often refer to any assault rifle as an AR-15.

Intruders came with three in the house and one in the car.  That's 4-on-1.  Not very "fair".

One had brass knuckles and one had a knife.  Two armed intruders against one.  Not very "fair".

The intruders picked the time and location based on inside information.  That wasn't "fair."

The family is right.  Nothing fair about the situation.  The outcome, though, was just, according to Oklahoma's laws.

The "Make My Day" law has been on the books since the 1980s, well before any of the four were even born.  That means every one of these teens should have known about it.

I do know they won't do anything like that again.  Sounds fair to me!

I finally got around to watching that video interview with the grandfather of one of the criminals. I certainly wish they had asked him, and provided the video of his answer, "What would you do if you were confronted by three masked intruders who had broken into your home?"

To be consistent with what he is shown saying in the video interview, his answer would have had to be something like this: "Hi guys. Nice ninja outfits, especially the masks. You know, you can get "punished" for this burglary thing, right? Do you have any weapons on you, besides fists and feet? Exactly what are they so I can determine what weapon I will use to protect myself should the need arise. Speaking of that, are you intending to inflict grievous bodily injury upon me? If so, I may have to go get a firearm, and, I'm warning you, I may use it if you answered the previous question in the affirmative, though if you only have weapons like knives and brass knuckles I would attempt to shoot only to wound. Now go about your business and have a nice day!"

That would likely not turn out well for him. He's as stupid as his dead criminal grandson.
