Steel rings/mount needed for 308?
« on: March 30, 2017, 09:03:47 AM »
I was telling my friend about my going to alum rings for 223 because I was worried about possibly damaging my scope with steel rings.

He was wondering if alum rings and an alum 20 moa rail would be ok for a 308 bolt action

(He is planning to install a Witt machine muzzle brake which claims to reduce recoil by 60%.  But I wonder if he may later take it off after getting stink eye)

Tnx

The only problem I've had with aluminum rails is when I tried to use the Wheeler level that's supposed to attach to the rail using the magnet.

Rklapp - good point!   We didn't even know there were magnetic levels.

We'll get steel 20 moa rails when the time comes.

Tnx again!
