Police are looking for a man who sexually assaulted a 25-year-old woman in her Mililani home.

At about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, a man forced his way into the home from the front door and sexually assaulted the woman before he fled, police said.

The assailant and the victim do not know each other, according to police, who released no further details.

A few days ago 48 Hours had a show about the Golden State Killer who got away with 50+ rapes and 12 murders.  Last one was in 1986.  No one knows who he is.  Started off breaking into a house and raping a woman.  After several rapes like that the news pointed out that he doesn't break in if a man is there.  He took that as a challenge and from then on targeted couple or even families.  At one town meeting about the GSK, one guy stood up and said if he ever broke into my house I will kill him.  Guess what, he and his wife were the next victims.  Then advanced to rape and then murdering his victims.  At this point, I doubt they will ever find him.

Apparently none of these victims had a firearm or at least not on them when he broke in.  One woman heard him break into the house while she was in the bedroom.  Unlike the woman who was breastfeeding her baby when an intruder broke into her bedroom and because she had her handgun on the bed with her, shot him dead.  M Ayoobi recommends always carrying a firearm on your person when even inside your own home.

I'm sure by now, HPD was able to determine how the rapist broke in.   To be a help to the community so others can try to prevent this type of forced entry, HPD should make public the details and offer ideas to defeat this kind of invasion.
One of these days this kind of perps will pick the wrong house then see their grieving families claim he was such a nice guy and the homeowner was trigger happy.  I would hope the victim will become a fierce advocate of 2A, get armed and never let this happen to them again.

This story was not reported by any other local news outlet that I can see.
Makes me think there was much more to the story.

The only reason I saw this story days after it was reported is I subscribe to Nextdoor.com.  It's like a neighborhood watch.  You subscribe to your local community (or create a neighborhood if none exists), and invite neighbors to join.

Our neighborhood coordinator likes to go to Stolen Stuff Hawaii and post crimes from our area.  He found this item there. I watch the local news a couple of times a day, and this was also the only report I've seen.

I do believe I have seen the pass out pamphlets about how to make the home safer from criminals. They might not release details though for fear of copycats.

You would be surprised how often there is something more to the story in rape cases.
