Me too.
Now hitting/ past my expiration dates.

I thought about getting those bars as a cheap source of long lasting carbs.  Instead I just bought a couple extra bags of rice.  Rice lasts a long time and is a cheap form of carbs.  Only thing is you have to boil water so I thought about making a fresnel lense from an old TV to boil water.

A single burner propane stove takes less space, can be used with no sunlight and a 5 gal propane bottle will last at least 3 months cooking everyday.

How do the bars taste?

Bars tasted similar to short bread, not only edible, but rather tasty,
I actually pumped my future son-in-law full of these to get his skinny little ass up to weight for enlistment !

No wood where you are? That looks like a lot of work to solve an easy problem.

Awesome site, super affordable.  I do keep an office stash, but the $9 one has a longer shelf life.

Maybe you and others might go together on bulk to save on shipping.

I have found Mountain House meals very good as well. Just mix it in a bit of hot water and you have yourself a meal, however not as many calories as the SOS bars or an MRE. Natural peanut butter is a good option too especially for backpacking, loaded with calories.

We have MH and other "freeze dried" goodies, but not a lot.
I don't like the sodium content of most.
I prefer dried goods sealed to the max, (Canned or Mylar).
If I can boil water for those instant foods, I can boil water for beans, potatoes reconstituting etc...
