found it interesting and informational. my wife was watching it with me and said we need to start prepping. I thought she was being sarcastic, she's said she was serious.

To some people these people are wackos.  But when you think what is happening in the world and you watch TV shows about the Bomb Squad in Afghanistan makes you really think what is going to happen if the world goes nuts?

Exactly

There were some good pieces of info, but they portrayed these people as wacko's.

The family at the end was ok, but the girl from Houston was a loon; "we're gonna put a bullet in our cats brainstem"'.....really?!

How about the  guy who could barely walk because he was morbidly obese, but thought he was John Rambo?

I'll continue to watch, but wish they would portray "preppers" in a bit better light.

I agree with the premise and do a little prepping myself, but this show will make the term preppers synonymous with crazy people :shake:

They were all shills selected and coached to make the prepper community look like a bunch of kooks that are in denial. They of course threw in reasonable comments here and there to camoflauge the intent. I mean, they had a system where an unknown number of people from an unknown organization are giving "expert assessments" on each of them. Basically it trains the viewers to believe that whatever you can think up or thought was a good idea, is not good enough, and you require this oversight from this mysterious omnipotent organization to survive. In other words - WE KNOW WHAT'S GOOD FOR YOU. DO AS WE SAY.

All the actors and actresses were way too gungho (coached) about revealing their identity to the country, which is complete and utter OpSec suicide. Their enthusiasm was unrealistic (because they were coached). They may have been true preppers before, but now that the entire country knows their faces and what they are doing, they are nothing.

your thoughts on doomsday preppers?

They appear to be a bit extreme, but depends on what they are prepping for and your perspective.

Consider where we live - in the middle of the ocean.  How many days supply of food & oil/gas/coal do we actually have on island?  Once the electricity stops there is also no running water.

And what will happen when the ships (that bring our food & oil/gas/coal) stop coming here?  How prepared are we?

Why would the ships stop?  Better to start another thread to discuss that one!

Yup it's all extreme or crazy until something really bad happens.

Ships stop coming, that could be the EMP that guys are thinking are coming, or the total global economic collapse, etc.  There's always some scenario where shipping/air doesn't work/come in.

For me... doomsday preppers go's to beyond... too much drama... but den again dats supposedly good tv now days...

Again for me... like most locals, we always get choke can goods, spam, vienna sausages, canned veggies etc...

But many years ago we started preppings more foods, beans, bullets and band aids... Plus guns/ammo.... heh heh...

Like most of us locals already had choke camping supplies but added more, and made a BOB for me and one for the wifey...

Never can be too cautious... got stuck in one too many tsunami and fire scares on the other side of the island....

I hope the girl who planned to bug out to Mexico changed her mind. I did not see the whole episode and if the experts advised her not to do so. As stated earlier so many locals have extra essentials on hand in case of emergencies due to natural disasters or shipping strikes. Everybody should have emergency supplies on hand. Hurricane Katrina showed that large numbers of people can turn feral.

You know it's funny how people in Hawaii just don't want to face facts and reality. I watch this show with my wife and she doesn't pay attention. Which drives me crazy. Although I don't have the room to make perps I really want to do it badly.

I love after the experts do there assessment then they say "experts say although these things have happened in the past it unlikely to happen again." :/ hmmm makes me wonder if there just trying to paint these people as the "clinging to there bibles and guns" kinda people.

One man with one mans opinion?? Although a couple seem "cookoo" most all of um are really smart people.

They're all prepping for different scenarios, but it'll all be for nothing if they don't prepare for the right reason.  Polar shifts, meteor, economic breakdown, solar flares, WW3, Caldera in yellowstone, Advanced civilization invasion...  I've been into shows like acient aliens, naked science, etc, etc for years now...  civilizations have disappeared without any archeological evidence where they went, and how they disappeared.  Trips me the hell out the types of technology they had thousands of years ago to build certain types of buildings, with precise angles, sizes, and cuts.  and proof that stones weren't cut with circular saws, lazers, or carving tools!  No evidence of any technology that we know about that could have done these.  They have all these theory's about how they used hand carving tools to build these big ass temples and homes, and moved all of the huge materials by rolling on logs and just human power??  f*ck that bro!  Just doesn't make sense...  I just watched this past episode of acient aliens, on the history channel, and that was the episode that nailed it for me!  None of it's bull, and it's all facts.  It still ends with a lot of theories and questions, but just doesn't make sense what happened to these civilizations.  I mean, then dug up skeletal remains of adult human bodies that had elongated skulls.  They have little statues of faces, of MANY different types of races, and even a carving of an alien's head in the mix LOL..  I'm not someone that's too gullible to fall for this type of nonsense, but there's just too much evidence of repeated events that lead to disappearances of entire civilizations.  I don't know what the hell to prep for, but i want to be ready when sh*t hits the fan.  I think we all need to prepare, but when time comes, we all (people who prepped) need to help each other out and work as a team to survive.  None of this bunker for me and my family shit..  i mean if i had the money and knowledge to go to the extreme to protect my family, i would, but i'd rather try to survive with a large number of people than just 4 or 5 of us.  There's going to be a lot more desperate, unprepared people than prepared ones if and when this happens.  But sh*t man, december 21 will probably just have a huge solar flare, and will interrupt your directv service for a few days!!  But all the paranoid humans will start chaos thinking it's the end of the world. i kind of went off topic about from the bunkers and stuff, but i put in too much thinking to erase what i just wrote LOL... Basically what i wanted to say, is i believe in prepping for this doomsday just to be safe, but i don't have the means and time like most of the hardcore preppers have.  I can just buy weapons to protect my family from scavengers, and try to save up as much food as i can.  And i honestly believe you guys should watch Ancient Aliens on The History Channel just to see what i'm talking about.  All facts, but just not too many answers.  I think the world will not end, but will change in a huge way.  I also believe it is already in the process as we speak.  Over population; Bigger Storms; Bigger earthquakes; more tsunamis; damm!! There was a tornado in kaneohe last week!!  wasn't devastating, but you can see sh*t is changing around the world.  A lot of, "this has never happened before", or very rare anomalies happening in a short period of time.  The earths regulating the population, or we ourselves are going to end up doing it.  Or heck, both is happening!

*anybody ever think what's on the other side of the moon?? perfect place to hide some sh*t too.  LOL, thought i'd end this with another conspiracy theory...
Hope for the best, Prepare for the worst
