That article really doesn't go into any depth on what was revealed by Comey's testimony re the inconsistencies (aka "lies") revealed by his testimony yesterday. It really only touches on one point: no one has any evidence of any collusion of the Trump administration or campaign with the Russians to influence the election.

And then in true National Review Never-Trump style Geraghty adds an irrelevant last paragraph of personal name-calling about Trump. Fuck Geraghty.

I think this is how everything will play out.  Comey and Trump are both right, just looking at things from different viewpoints and the media is twisting it to be something it's not.  Comey has a lot of pride in his work and the FBI, and is sick of people trying to sway him and has to take a stand for independence.  He's got pummeled publicly and politically for past events, like the Hilary email server reveal prior to the elections, so he's bitter and more so with the firing.  He takes the conversation he had with Trump the wrong way.

Trump is inexperienced as the President and hasn't figured out the protocols yet.  Has a friendly talk with Comey, and like anyone else on his team he expects loyalty from Comey.  As Flynn's former boss, he feels partly responsible for Flynn's predicament and wants to show concern for him.  Like any good boss would do for a good employee in trouble.  Trump is tired of the media blasting him about the Russian probe which prevents him from working on MAGA so wants help with that.  If there were tapes of the conversation, I think it would be like a talk with friends and family and the public will agree.

I agree that there was no evidence of collusion with Trump in the testimony. Everyone in DC knows that Mueller is in charge of that and won't speak of it in the open session. There may or may not be evidence discussed in the follow up closed session, but we won't know for a year or two. In the meantime, this is exactly what Trump warned us about with Hillary. The result of the testimony is that Trump's agenda will have more obfuscation as attention is diverted to the allegations. Did anyone pay attention to Trump's infrastructure agenda this week and his plan to battle the permitting process for big projects? So far, I've only seen one story about it as a side note.

Actually what Clinton said was "I did not have sexual relations with that woman, [pause], Ms. Lewinsky". He forgot for a second which woman he was lying about not having what ordinary people, not lawyers, call "sex" with (the legal definition of "sexual relations" is "sexual intercourse", and since only fellatio and cigar insertion into the vagina was involved, he was in the clear, if you parse his language like a lawyer). I have to wonder though, how many women would be okay with their male partners engaging in those sorts of "activities" even though they were not technically "sexual relations"? "super illegal"?  Is that some new classification of crime?  Either what he did was legal or illegal.  Maybe in your view, President Trump may have done things that you might consider to be immoral or unethical, but "super illegal" as if your inferring what he did was slightly illegal?

This is still not finished, but from this opening testimony, if I were a Trump hater, I wouldn't expect much to celebrate, but rather should probably be bracing for impact as I think there could be quite a bit more to come that could actually be far more damaging to the Dems that comes out of this. 

Sad thing with most of this is that our society is founded on an innocent until proven guilty concept.  However the liberals of this country have deemed it appropriate to take a stance where you are "guilty until you can prove yourself innocent, and then we will still call you guilty because we hate you" and apply that to EVERYONE who does not share their same world views ON EVERYTHING.  I don't care if you like or don't like President Trump, this vile venom is disgusting and anti-American at our core.  This is not, nor ever has been a true Liberal point of view but rather a flat out socialist, Marxist and communist mindset that has infected and taken over the Democrat party and liberalism in America today.  It is vile and disgusting beyond words.  If I were a true liberal or Democrat I would be EXTREMELY pissed off by this and would want to rebuke this mindset and regain what the Democrat party should be focused on.  Fortunately for the screwed up Republican party is that the Dems are more screwed up and are imploding even worse.

Not exactly. Someone may do something illegal but there may not be enough evidence to prove it. Here is where Trump sits with his suggestion to drop the investigation. He didn't label it as an explicit order but given the nature of their two positions it could easily be understood as direction from the president.

Imagine this were the military and the general of the base told a lower ranking officer he would like the officer to stop doing something. Now imagine the officer did what was contrary to the general's request, you think the officer would be free and clear because the general didn't technically give a clear and concise order or do you think he would get in trouble because when the general suggests something, you go ahead and do it?

Innocent until proven guilty.  You can't say something was illegal unless there is proof they actually did it.  Otherwise, it's slander.

Agreed however even though the information known is not enough to convict it may still warrant further investigation and/or public scrutiny.

In my opinion what Trump did was unethical and borderline illegal. He is either smart enough or lucky enough to put his request in such a way that he can claim he never ordered Comey to do it even though everyone and their grandma would understand that as a direction to Comey. Now it appears Trump is getting revenge on Comey because he didn't play ball. Again, not enough to prove a crime occurred but enough, I think, to be a serious mark on Trump.

What Russia may or may not have attempted to do in the election is a completely separate topic.

There is no evidence that Trump or the campaign colluded with anyone to influence the election.

No evidence = no reason to keep talking about it.  After a year, do you really think there is evidence that hasn't been leaked?

"I was concerned" and "it raised questions" are not evidence.  That's nothing more than suspicion based on no probable cause.  It has no weight.
