Adam West, the actor who played Batman in the 1960's TV series passed away.
Younger folk will know him as Mayor Adam West on "Family Guy".
In the 50"s he was on the Kini Popo Show on KGMB-TV down on Kapiolani Blvd.

Sad day today.

The original series was funny and campy. I loved the cameos from other actors. Ceaser Romero played the joker and refused to shave his mustache so they painted his whole face white with his mustache still visible. 

I guess I gotta jump in here with all of the other (2) wise and ancient ones who remember sitting on the floor on a Saturday morning.

I am one of those weird ones that was of TV watching age, but never saw this show.  Of course, I was otherwise occupied in U.S. adventures, if i read the timeline for the show correctly..

I was never a big fan, but it surely was entertaining...especially Julie Newmar in her cat suit

I can't argue with you about Julie Newman. She was HOT!!! Yvonne Craig was really cute in her bat suit as well.

But I thought Eartha Kitt played the best Catwoman.

IIRC on the mainland it was either on at 7:30 or 8:00pm. Maybe Thursdays? Most of the villains got 2 episodes to kill Bateman and Bobbin. So every other week was a cliffhanger.

This was back in the days when TV was beneath the big-screen stars, too.  Once they became big names in the movies, you rarely saw them on TV shows afterwards unless their careers were fading.

The Batman series seemed to attract big stars for some reason.  Maybe the sponsors paid well?

 Not sure where you guys  were back then, but back in the mid west where I hail from,  Batman,  Superman, The Addams' Family, The Munsters, My Favorite Martian etc... were all Saturday morning/early afternoon shows.
I know cuz I had to finish my weekly chores before siiting in front of the 'Boob Toob".

   Us kids never watched any TV after 5 pm except for  the  Walt Disney Show, Walter Cronkite and Mutual of Omaha's Marlin Perkins saying things like "While Jim wrestles the alligator". 

Ooooooooooooooooooh !    Flashbacks...

The cliff hangers ended with, "Tune in tomorrow.... Same bat-time, same bat-channel".  In season three, it changed to "See ya' next week.....".

The first two seasons ran TWO new episodes TWO NIGHTS PER WEEK, hence the "Tune in tomorrow".  The third season was weekly, and those 2nd part episodes began with a recap of the 1st part, since it was a week apart.

I was a kid in the 60s, but I want to say the 2-episode weeks were on Tuesday and Wednesday at 7:00.  I'm sure that varied by market and timezone.



After the second part of a 2-part episode, they had short promo announcements for who the dynamic duo faced the following week.

I'll post a couple more jokes I remember from when I was a kid a little later. I also wanted to remind all of you OF's about the Batman Movie from 1966. It came out less than a year after the series was finished. It featured the Batcopter, Batboat and the Batcycle with go-cart for Robin. Which BTW was not the same Batcycle used during the series.

I mentioned the cameos in my earlier post. I found a video with all 14 cameos. This was one of my favorite aspects of the show.

You know Flapp brought back those memories of the two days a week episodes. Maybe shown on a Wednesday and Thursday? I specifically remember there were only one day a week episodes as well. So the 2 episodes would show over 2 weeks instead of 2 days in a row. Some episodes were just one evening and I think there was a couple of 3 day episodes. It is truly hard to remember all the details from back then.
