I know it's just the headline, but still...

"Hyun Ju Park was working at a bar when Anson Kimura’s duty weapon discharged..."

I hate it when that happens! Those damn things have a mind of their own...

It's hard to read that whole article without checking several times to make sure you're not on The Onion website... it's NOT a parody of police and police union incompetence and corruption? Facilitated by lying lawyers? It's real? Holy shit!

If it was anyone of us Joe private citizen it would be attempted murder, in prison for years.
Hate to say it but the City is liable to an extent as it is part of his duty to carry. None of us can without being LE.

Private citizens CCW don't allow you to enter an establishment that serves (only) alcohol or to consume alcohol while carrying and you're subject to blood alcohol testing if involved in a shooting.

Not sure why HPD or any law enforcement isn't subject to the same rules (remember Deedy).

IIRC

There was a news report that said HPD had 12 million stashed away.
I'm hoping that they will use that fund instead of screwing us taxpayers.

Too bad they don't have a half million dollars worth of tax payer purchased firearms they could sell through dealers to offset stupid crap like this with.

I suspect they were willing to destroy a half mil because of that 12 mil stash.
And, of course, you know we ordinary citizens can't be trusted to safely use firearms.
Only highly trained officers in HPD can be trusted with guns.

Yeah, but they didn't want "to put those guns back on the streets". As if there are any legal guns legally "on the streets" that have caused any problems, ever. Then there's the record of all the states where it is legal to have guns on the streets (both open and CCW) and what do the stats show?... yeah, that those legal carriers are three to six TIMES less likely to get arrested for a gun crime than COPS. I'm just sayin' (again)...HPD and the other state bureaucrats simply lie again and again to avoid stating what their real agenda is in denying as many citizens as possible the rights to keep and bear arms.
