Who comes up with this shit? What about bullets... what about powder? Any gun control that doesn't prevent guns from being shipped into the city is a waste of time. It's nearly impossible to do so. I'm okay with reasonable waiting periods and reasonable background checks. Shouldn't there also be similar controls on truck rentals and abortions?

Since the MAXIMUM legal magazine is 10 rds, you potentially can buy 20 rds each quarter.

If your pistol is a 5-shot revolver, you're able to buy only 10 rds per 90 days.  Even worse.

The stated intent is to prevent "terrorists" from stockpiling large supplies of ammo.

They make no allowance for hobbyists who compete in shooting sports, number of people at home who might practice with the same pistol, or any other legal use.

Maybe they should let you trade the empty brass to the place you bought it and let you replace the ammo with the same amount?  Maybe you could buy more ammo at the range if you return the brass to show you used it all?

All I know is, if you go the the range 4 times a year and shoot the whole maximum 20 rds for that quarter, you'll be sitting at home with an empty gun the rest of the time.

The 7 rd limit was changed back again to 10 for the reason you stated.

It's a little (teeny tiny?) bit difficult to believe that Roxie and Annie are really that stupid ("The assemblymember's proposed legislation to restrict the sale of ammunition will: Prevent terrorists from stockpiling ammunition. Make New York's neighborhoods safe for families." [Were there any families in the Twin Towers on September 11, 2001?]), that is, they know nothing about all the ways that people could acquire ammunition even if their law passed and was enforced (which it won't be and can't be because the state has already said it doesn't have the money to create a new database base and implement it). But maybe they are that stupid. Both Dems and both from Brooklyn... which is ironic considering that a "New York reload" would invalidate their premise even if successfully imposed on a person with no other means of acquiring ammo.

Sounds like another example of token gesture type "work" that many politicians do.  Mostly lip service to have the appearance that they are trying to do what they said that they would do. 

Hopefully the city doesn't have the funding or will to implement such a system.  Sounds like places in Australia where you have to turn in spent brass to buy more ammo.
